When you think about Borders, a large selection of books neatly lined up on shelves is probably what comes to mind. I know that was my first thought. But Borders recently expanded over 500 of their stores to include a wonderful selection of high-quality educational toys and games, including one of my favorites, Melissa & Doug toys.

Borders recently gave me a $100 gift card to check out their new lineup, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out just how far I was able to stretch this money. All together I managed to score six different Melissa & Doug toys, two I Spy books, an illustrated book of military airplanes, and a small collection of Mickey Mouse board books with a figurine for my “Mickeh Mou” lovin’ baby boy. I came in slightly over budget at $117, but that also included another children’s book that I picked up to donate to the Borders Charity Book Drive.

I found the selection to be quite varied, with choices that encompassed the varied interests of all five of my children, and the employees were extremely helpful. Both ladies working at the store were visited were very knowledgeable and offered suggestions on the best items to choose and were able to help us find exactly what we were searching for.

I sometimes think I get just as much enjoyment out of them as my kids do.     Totally the melissa and doug are favorites in our house. We would use the card for books….we are fools for books. Nothing melts my heart more than seeing my 6 year old who’s starting to read, “reading” to his 2 year old sister. That’s love right there!

    My kids could really go to town with a gift card. The little one loves touch and feel books and I would love some Melissa & Doug toys for her. My 5 year old loves card games and Mr. Men books. My 8 year old has just started reading the “39 Clues” series and doing Mad Libs. We would have a grand time puting the gift card to good use!

    I am a homeschooling mom so I would stock up on all the great books on education and homeschooling and so many books to read with my early reader especially anything with creatures animals dragons and american girl. Also cant forget all the little stuff like notpads and calendars so I can stay organized

    I would use a $100 Gift Card to Borders very wisely!! First I would sign up for their Rewards program and then try to find any coupons I could find to stretch my dollar.
    I would buy 4 books get the 5th free and go back and do the same another day or split up the transactions!

    With this gift card I would purchase some Melissa and Doug puzzles for my kids, nephew, and nieces. I love the durability of the puzzles/toys and they are very educational. A big plus is that my kids LOVE them. This donation would be such a huge blessing to my family in this holiday season. In a family of four, living on one income is hard to do around the holidays.
