Who Wants to Win a Flip Digital Video Camera?

August 29, 2008 by Tara Kuczykowski

Hopefully you’ve had a chance to check out my first-ever vlog attempt on frugal baby and toddler feeding, so you’ve seen the Flip in action! The quality of the video far exceeded my expectations, and it is SO simple to use.

I was really kind of nervous about doing a video. “You, uh, want me to do what? Put myself on display in a series of videos in front of all my readers? Um . . . okay.” But I had a great time learning how to use my Flip and playing around with Windows Movie Maker. Now that I’ve got one done and relaxed a little, I’m really looking forward to my next vlog!

So how would you like to have one of these fabulous little gadgets for your very own? Courtesy of Walmart and Pure Digital, I have one Flip Digital Video Camera in my hot little hands for one lucky reader to win! You could even use it to win a year’s worth of groceries by submitting your best money-saving tips on video to the Walmart channel on YouTube. I would be SO thrilled if one of my readers won the groceries!!!

Every reader has three methods available to enter this contest. Choose any combination of one, two, or three, for up to a total of 3 entries!!!

1. Leave a comment telling me the best money-saving method or tip that you’ve actually used recently. Make sure that I have some way to get in touch with you if you are the winner. (Either leave your email address in your comment or make sure I can access it from your profile.) Don’t worry, I won’t harvest your email addresses or use them for any purpose other than notifying you if you win.

2. Subscribe to my feed via RSS or email and leave a separate comment letting me know you have done so. If you’re already a subscriber, simply leave a separate comment letting me know you’re already subscribed. Lovin’ my subscribers! You guys make this all possible.

3. Spread the word about this contest in some manner and come back and leave a link in a separate comment. If you have a blog, you can blog about it. But if you don’t have a blog, you’re not at a disadvantage. You could review and Stumble it. You could Twitter it. You could post about it in a forum. Use your imagination!

It is important that you leave a separate comment for each type of entry because each comment is equal to one entry. Sorry to harp on this, but it really is that important to tally and select the winners easily, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Prize:
(1) Flip Video F260 Ultra 60-Minute Digital Camcorder, ARV $125

This giveaway ends at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sunday, September 7th. I’ll use Random.org to generate a number that corresponds with the winning comment and post the winner on Monday, September 8th. Good luck!

    Oooh, awesome giveaway!

    My money saving tip:

Avoid Costco. Yes, AVOID Costco! I’ve found that it’s cheaper to just shop at the supermarket and not get sucked in by all the “bargains” at those stores.

We are religious coupon clippers in my house, and we belong to the warehouse club, which is a huge help (especially on diapers and canned fruits & veggies — hello 1/2 off grocery store prices!). We have also been buying a lot of our clothes for the baby at yard sales and flea markets for a lot less green (and it's a lot MORE green to reuse, as well!).

My best money saving deal this year has been to replace my regular light bulbs with cfl’s. I didn’t do it all at once, that would be too expensive. But every time a light burns out I replace it with a money saving one. Now my whole house is almost replaced and my electric bill has gone down about $25/mo, and I have a small house.

Consignment stores are the best, and cheapest, way to dress your baby. You can find great clothes for cheap. For example, I recently bought a brand new Zutano brand outfit for my daughter. It retails for about $36 and I bought it for $3.50!

The most recent money-saving tip that I have used is using apple cider vinegar in place of hair conditioner. I put about a tablespoon or so of vinegar in a plastic cup, fill it with warm water while I am in the shower, then pour it over my head and rinse, after I am done shampooing. I have found it works great.

My best money saving tip is simply asking for a discount. An example is that we subscribe to a major newspaper that my husband loves to read. And we have been subscribers for about 3 years. I recently received my annual invoice which was $99.00 and I called them and asked if that is the best price that they could give me. Since they didn’t want to lose me a customer they reduced it to $59.00.

What an awesome giveaway! Okay, a couple of money saving strategies I use are shopping once a month with a list so that all I have to get the rest of the month is perishables. (and never shop without a list) Also, and this is going to sound really nerdy, I love to shop but live too far away from anywhere so I shop a lot online. Sometimes I get in these compulsory shopping moods so I’ll shop online, put things I like in the shopping cart, and then turn my computer off. It helps get that shopping bug out without spending money!

After years of haphazardly clipping and keeping coupons in random locations, I’ve finally started a filing system. What was I thinking before?? meganlynn at gmail

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
