Walgreens $10/$40 Coupon, Good 8/29 and 8/30

August 29, 2008 by Tara Kuczykowski 20 Comments

Walgreens has a printable $10/$40 coupon available that is good Friday, 8/29 and Saturday, 8/30. Like the recent $5/$20 coupons, the terms and conditions state that your subtotal must include all other discounts and coupons to qualify. So after all of your manufacturer coupons and any other Walgreens store coupons, your subtotal must be $40 or greater to use the coupon.

Now, this might not sound so hot at first glance, but don’t forget that all the September EasySaver rebates start tomorrow, so this is a great way to turn them into moneymakers!

Granted I’m new to the Wags thing, but I came up with this scenario to earn you $21 on your purchase. Check it out and let me know if I have everything correct!

Transaction
(Updated thanks to Patricia informing me that the Excedrin are not available until Sept. 9th)

BUY Walgreens Pitcher Filter Replacement Cartridge at $6.99
BUY L’Oreal Revitalife Anti-Wrinkle Concentrate (1-oz.) at $12.46 (25% off this week)
BUY Nivea for Men Body Wash (16.9-oz.) at $4.99
BUY Walgreens Acid Control (25 Chewable Tabs) at $7.99
BUY Revlon Nail Color or Nail Care at $4.79
BUY Chemistry Hair Care (1.35 to 12-oz.) at $7.99
BUY Crest ProHealth Toothpaste (4.2-oz.) at $3.79
BUY LypSyl LypMoisturizer (1-oz.) at $1.99
BUY one small item, anything priced over a penny will do, such as a pack of gum (to get your total above the $40 before the $10/$40 coupon)! I’ll use a 50-cent item for my calculations.

Subtotal before coupons $51.49

USE $10/$40 Walgreens coupon
USE $3/1 L’Oreal Revitalift or Age Perfect Pro-Calcium Radiance Perfector, exp. 10-12-08 SS (7/20/08)
USE $1/1 Nivea For Men Body Wash, exp. 9-30-08 (SS 7/20/08)
USE $2/1 Walgreens Acid Control (Wags Pharmacy Coupon Book)
USE $2/1 Revlon Color Cosmetic Product, exp. 11-16-08 (SS 7/20/08)
USE $3/1 on Chemistry Shampoo, Conditioner, or Treatment, (1.35-12oz), exp. 8-31-08 (August IVC)

Out of Pocket $30.49
ESRs Earned $50.99
Total Profit $20.50!!!

Looks good to me! I’d got the same thing cooked up minus the acid control tablets in the coupon book, I was wondering if that would work. Yahoo for Walgreens! Clair at Mummy Deals

It was pointed out to me that the Excedrin tablets won’t be available until September 9th. So that’s a no-go :(

I wanted to buy that instead of Revlon nail polish.

Hey. On another site I frequent, someone contacted Walgreens corporate customer service and they stated that the $40 must be after in-store coupons, and that if you use it and then give them the manufacturers qs, you should be fine. Hope that helps!

I understand the deal to be (through Money Saving Mom) that your total must be $40 AFTER mfr. coupons. Will your scenarios really work?

Anon, yes, if you add everything up and deduct the other coupons your subtotal will be $40.19 before the $10 off coupon. So it definitely should work.

Thanks for the heads up, Patricia! I have an idea for a slight modification, and I’ll go change it right now.

Great scenario! I was at Walgreens this morning and they were out of Excedrin tablets. But everything else was in stock! I added some Glade that was BOGO and had a BOGO coupon which made it free and got $2 in rebates.

    thanks!
I already got the filter (unless it is for sept again) so i subbed in pullups which are 9.49 – 2 coupon. and gives a $2 RR.

Also if you fill a Rx there’s a $25 gc coupon and so it would only cost about $5 oop!!!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...
