Which Grocery Stores Double Coupons?

May 24, 2011 by Tara Kuczykowski 837 Comments

One of the questions I’m asked most frequently these days is, “Which grocery stores double coupons in [my area]?” I’ve generally been responding by telling them to contact their local stores and ask what their policy is — but today it occurred to me that perhaps we could create a resource that will save everyone a little time and energy.

So to that end, I’d like to compile a list of grocery stores that double by state, and I need your help. Please scroll down and leave a comment on this post with your state and any grocery stores that you know of that double coupons.

I’ll use the information to create a resource that will allow users to easily look up their state and find out which stores will double coupons. Thanks for your help!

Most Giant stores in PA will double your coupons up to 99 cents.

My shoprite stores also double but they will only double up to a dollar. So a 75 cent off coupon will only go up to a dollar.

In Colorado, King Soopers and Safeway double coupons up to a maximum of $1.00 – $0.25 coupons are doubled to $0.50, $0.50 are doubled to $1.00, and $0.75 are doubled to $1.00.

Coupons $1.00 or more are redeemed at face value.

Albertsons in Colorado doubles and triples coupons only periodically, but they are doing it this week! Coupons triple up to a maximum value of $1.00 (usually $0.40 coupons “triple” up to $1.00), and coupons $0.50 to $0.99 are doubled up to $1.00.

No other grocery stores in Colorado double coupons – but we do have a lot of them that offer great deals even without double coupons!

    In Central WI:

Only Copps doubles coupons. They have a few rules:
    1. They double coupons on Wed. and Sat. each week.
    2. Only coupons up to $1 in value will be doubled.
    3. There is a $25 minimum for the transaction, before coupons.
    4. There is a limit of 5 doubled coupons per transaction.

They do impose limits, but if you play your cards right, you can make it work well for you! I usually do at least two transactions. I save “free product coupons” for those transactions, too – to help bring my total over $25 before coupons.

In WI, the Twin Cities metro in MN, and the Chicago area in IL, we have Roundy’s stores. Pick ‘n Save, Copps, Rainbow, Metro Mart, and Mariano’s double 5 coupons on Wednesdays (and Saturdays for now, with the occasional 10 coupon days depending on the store).

Bi-lo does, and you can earn FuelPerks. After you spend a certain amt. of money, you earn cents off a gallon. Then you go to a participating BP and run your BI-lo car, and it takes the money off at the pump.

All Albertsons in the Pacific NW (Oregon, Washington, Idaho) double up to 3 coupons, up to $1 each per transaction a couple of times a month, usually every other Sunday-Tuesday. Albertsons will double a “do not double” coupon but will not double a coupon valued at $1.01+.

Select Thriftyways in the Washington & Oregon double up to 4 manufacturer’s coupons, up to $.50 each per transaction.

Sucks that NoCal gets the shaft but SoCal has a couple stores, and if you go further north Oregon and Washington have stores that double…. I am curious though. I wonder if there was a way to convince a store in your town to start doubling. Would you think this was possible? Maybe start up a signature campaign and see where it leads?
