Which Grocery Stores Double Coupons?

May 24, 2011 by Tara Kuczykowski 837 Comments

One of the questions I’m asked most frequently these days is, “Which grocery stores double coupons in [my area]?” I’ve generally been responding by telling them to contact their local stores and ask what their policy is — but today it occurred to me that perhaps we could create a resource that will save everyone a little time and energy.

So to that end, I’d like to compile a list of grocery stores that double by state, and I need your help. Please scroll down and leave a comment on this post with your state and any grocery stores that you know of that double coupons.

I’ll use the information to create a resource that will allow users to easily look up their state and find out which stores will double coupons. Thanks for your help!

Great, this is definitely needed. Please suggest any more options or configurations you think suits your needs. The third item will be deducted at face value. So far no limit on the amount of coupons per order, This looks great! It’s exactly what I need.

Hannaford, Market Basket, Shaws and Stop & Shop are our 4 major grocery stores in New Hampshire. Shaws will double (6) of the same coupons up to a $.99 in one transaction and Stop & Shop will double (4) of the same coupons up to a $.99 in one transaction. In my opinion these two stores have the highest prices, but you can get some good deals on sale items. Market Basket has the BEST prices, unfortunately their coupon policy is the most restrictive.

Cincinnati, OH : Kroger doubles unlimited cpns up to $1 maximum. Meijer doubles cpns up to $1 maximum also, but only 2 identical cpns per order double, though. Remke/Bigg’s double cpns up to $1 maximum w/ a limit of 12 identical cpns doubling.
These stores have the same policy in Northern KY (considered Greater Cincinnati area) also. HTH! Thanks for all you do,

In NJ, Shoprite and A&P will both double up to $0.99. Shoprite will only take 4 of the same coupon per visit, not sure about A&P since they are more expensive and I rarely go there

Krogers in Lewisburg, Columbia, and Spring Hill Tennessee will dopuble your coupons up to .50 cents. No limits! I love Krogers!
Harris Teeter in Franklin, Tennessee will double your coupons up to .99 cents limit of 20 per household per day and only 1st three coupons for identical item will double. After that coupons are worth face value. Harris Teeter has their coupon policy posted on their website, you should read it, their policy can be a little confusing.
Walgreens in Lewisburg, Tennessee is not a very coupon friendly store. I have had many problems with them lately.
Walmart in Lewisburg and columbia Tennessee will not double your coupons but, if your coupon goes overy the items price they will give you the overage as money back!

Kroger, Albertsons and Tom Thumb all triple $0.01-$0.39 and double $0.40-$0.50.
Tom Thumb and Kroger only multiply the first of any like coupon. Albertsons will multiply multiple like coupons. Either they don’t have a limit or I haven’t found it yet.

Martins in the Shenandoah Valley of Va doubles up to .50 coupons. But, the amount taken off can not exceed the value of the item. So, if mustard is on sale for .99 and you have a coupon for .50 it will take off the additional .49 but no “money making”. Also, you can only redeem ONE like coupon that is doubling per day. So, in the above example, you can only get one mustard for free – any other of that same coupon will NOT double. Also, any coupon that says “do not double” will not be doubled. Is that confusing? Sorry! No “extreme couponing” at Martins!

The Price Choppers In Malone, Massena, and Potsdam, NY double up to $1. BUT, once your coupon amount reaches 50% of your bill, they stop doubling your coupons. There are some ways to get around this though.
