I’ve had a number of people email and comment lately about their troubles with Internet printable coupons. Generally Bricks printable coupons are the most common culprit, and the issue can be very difficult to troubleshoot, not to mention frustrating.
Answers are hard to come by, so let me offer some suggestions that I’ve found.
- Disable your firewall. If you’re running a personal firewall, the .exe file may not install properly. You’ll want to follow the instructions to disable your firewall to install the coupon printer. Make sure to turn it back on when you’re installation is complete!
- Verify that you have administrator rights. You will not be able to install the coupon printer if you do not have administrator rights on your computer.
- Make sure that JavaScript is enabled in your browser. This is a good resource on enabling JavaScript.
- Turn off your pop-up blocker. If you use a pop-up blocker, you need to turn it off to print coupons.
If these tricks all fail, oftentimes you can actually request for manufacturers to mail the coupons to you.
And as a final resort (actually a first resort if you don’t want to bother with all the rest), the easiest way I’ve found to resolve the problem is as simple as installing Firefox and using it as your browser when printing Bricks coupons. I’m no expert, so I won’t even pretend to know why, but for whatever reason, it seems to work even when Internet Explorer doesn’t!

Okay, here’s what I do to get bricks (coupons.com) coupons to print. Right after you click on the Print Coupons button, you’ll see a little message at the center top of the page that says something like, “if your browser does not automatically redirect you click here.” Click on that link. You have to be really fast! But then the coupon prints out! This has worked for me in both Firefox and IE.

I don’t know all the technical jargon, but if I hold down the Shift key while clicking on the print coupon button, then it works for me (because I’m giving my computer permission to allow a pop-up).

The thing that’s weird to me is that Bricks will print just fine one one coupon, but then another time it just stalls on a page that says “please wait”. I have waited hours, but nothing happens because the browser is already done loading. So for me it’s hit and miss. I’m not sure any of the solutions would work, because I KNOW that it’s possible to print stuff, sometimes it just won’t!

Jessica, I have had the same “please wait” problem. I usually encounter that when I am using Firefox. Often, if I open Explorer and paste the address of the “please wait” page into it, I can get it to print. Don’t know why, but it works.

I emailed for customer support and this was their answer. I use INternet Explorer, and this was exactly what my problem was and it is now fixed.
On your toolbar, click on Tools, then Manage Add-ons, then Enable or Disable Add-ons. Look for the names CouponBar and Cpbrkpie Control. Both of these must be enabled. When I checked mine, the Cpbrkpie was disabled. Once I made that little change, I’ve been printing coupons ever since!

I got this info from another site and it works everytime I get the Please Wait message:
Sometimes people paste Coupons.com/Bricks links that they recieved in FireFox, which do not work in Internet Explorer or vice versa. You get the “Please wait…” or “Please Install The Coupon Printer” even if you already did.
This trick will allow you to simply change 2 characters in the URL to make a FireFox link work in Internet Explorer and vice versa
Here’s how easy it is, the following is a FireFox link:
hxxp://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=ri3peuo59687503&bt=wg&o=53740&ci=1& c=GM&p=TyQrvJAY
note the “wg” in the URL. This link gives the repeating Please Install The Coupon Printer in Internet Explorer.
To make that link an Internet Explorer link we simply change “wg” to “wi” OR “vi” (in this case, both variations work, other coupons it may be wi or vi, trial and error):
hxxp://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=ri3peuo59687503&bt=wi&o=53740&ci=1& c=GM&p=TyQrvJAY
or
hxxp://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=ri3peuo59687503&bt=vi&o=53740&ci=1& c=GM&p=TyQrvJAY
UPDATE: If you want to print Bricks coupons on a MAC with Safari, replace the “wg”, “wi”, or “vi” to “xs”. You can also do the reverse, take a Safari link “xs” to IE “wi” or “vi” or to FireFox “wg”.
You do the opposite if you want to print an Ineternet Explorer link in Firefox!
Hope this helps.

I tried your way Sharisse and it worked for me. At first, I was thinking “what the hell”, because it looked very complicated, especially for me because I’m not a computer expert, but replacing letters isn’t such a burden, isn’t it? :-)

How do I ‘Verify that you have administrator rights”? I did everything else everyone suggested but nothing work. I was printing coupons no problem last week. All of the sudden, I can’t print brick coupon any more. I even restore my pc to last week. but not work. It just keep getting stuck on the transmitting page, the page with the two computers transmitting….Any idea or help? Thanks.

Maggie – all admin rights are is that you have access to make any/all changes to your computer. I, like you, had tried all the above and found nothing worked until I downloaded Firefox. Now everything is working great. If you haven’t done that you might find that it will work for you. I had the same thing happen to me. I was printing fine and then all of a sudden every time I tried to print any brick/coupons.com coupons it would state that I had to install the printer (which by now I must have installed over 100 times).
TO: Tara ~ I just wanted to send you a quick thank you for this article. I have emailed coupons.com several times, received one response – which after giving me basic suggestions (all of which I had already tried) he just disappeared. I called yesterday and was give the direct number of their “tech” guy, but he is never there and all you get is voicemail. I have been pulling my hair out, as I have missed out on MANY deals because of the printing issue. I was just about to give up when I found this post.
I went ahead and downloaded Firefox and lo and behold I am printing again!!!!
Thanks again so much. Happy Easter!

Lisa,
Thank you for trying to help. But I already have Firefox. I tried to print form Firefox and IE but none work. I even reformat my pc, started fresh with Windows 7 now. But still not work. Not sure if it is some Windows 7 setting. But just not work. I have missed out lot of deals because of it. I just hope I can get it fix soon.
Happy Easter to all!!!

I never have any problem with bricks coupons. Due to finances I have to use dial-up, which isn’t very dependable, and when I loose my connection while I’m printing, when I sign back on, my bricks coupons print automatically. I do however use IE and not FF…and I’m sure this is the difference with the problems most of you are encountering.
The coupons have have problems with are SmartSource and e-Centives. I have never been able to print an e-Centives coupon and apparently never will–I guess my system/isp/os isn’t compatable. SmartSource coupons print from the manufacturer’s websites some of the time–but will not ever print from SmartSource.com. I always get “you’ve already printed the alotted amount of coupons” message from SmartSource.com, even when I’ve never seen the coupon. I have tried every thing possible with my firewalls and other security systems, and SmartSource is a non-entity when asking for help.
I think it is incredibly idiotic that all these coupon distributors do not have “compatable” products across the board. It shouldn’t matter what ISP, or OS you use–the coupons should work for everyone! And the only way this will ever happen is if we, the users, complain to the companies that hire SmartSource, Bricks, e-Centives and Streamline to distribute their coupons.
I complain to every company when I cannot print their coupon. Sometimes it falls on deaf ears, but much of the time it gets to the correct people. I have even gotten coupon links emailed to me which I can print. Most of the time corporate marketing and tech departments don’t realize that the coupon distributor they were using isn’t compatable to all systems.
