Walgreens Shopping Trip 8/23/08

August 24, 2008 by Tara Kuczykowski 18 Comments

Up until now I’ve been more of a CVS gal, but the great $5 off $20 Walgreens coupon and free after EasySaver rebates items prompted me to make my first-ever trip last night.

I was fully prepared for them to be out of much that I wanted, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the only items they didn’t have were the vacuum bags. Oh, and I really wanted to stock up on the Cheerios, but unfortunately the brand new printer cartridge that I just bought at OfficeMax was defective.

Transaction

1 Jumbo-size Cheerios
2 Preparation H Wipes
1 Olive Oil Deep Conditioner (looking forward to trying this)
1 Soft White 60-watt Light Bulbs
1 Walgreens Brand Water Pitcher Cartridge
2 Boxes of Jiffy Pancake Mix

$5/$20 Walgreens coupon
(2)
$3/1 Preparation H printable
(2) $2/1 Walgreens EasySaver coupon
$1/1 Cheerios printable

Out of Pocket $16.20
EasySaver Rebates Earned $14.97

So can anyone explain to me how this works? I know that you can submit the rebates online and you get an extra percentage if you have them put on a Walgreens GC. What is the usual timeframe for receiving it?

I’m thinking at the very least I’ll start covering the EasySaver monthly deals and any good deals that I come across each week. Would you find this useful?

I just did my rebate for the first time last night with walgreens and I already had a rechargeable gift card and had them put my rebates on it. From what iv’e heard it takes from 2-3 weeks. But the site said 7-10 days so we will see. I can let you know when I get mine.
I shop walgreens 99 % of the time but would like to go to CVS more. So your walgreen comments would be helpful to me.

I had my rebate back on my card in 10 days. If you get your easy savers at the beginning of the month instead of the end, you’ll wait less to get your rebate.

yes! i’m new to walgreens and any help is helpful.
I almost cried with joy when I received my first reg. reward. What was better was they let use a coupon I found in a flyer at h.e.b.-so, I saved $3(off t.p. 2/$14) and got back $3. can’t wait to go back.

The first time you apply for walgreens rebate and get a gift card for walgreens instead of a check they will add 10% to the total. After you receive the card you can just add next months rebates to the same gift card(reload). I think your walgreens comments would be helpful.

Tara, I have a list of tips for playing Walgreens at my place. The online submission is the best! Enter as you go and it will auto-submit for you at the end of the month – one less thing to remember! And, getting the 10% extra added to your gift card is great – less paperwork, no stamps and get 10% extra!

I sent in my rebate on Aug 4 and it showed up over the weekend while we were on vacation, either Friday or Saturday. So about 18 days – not too bad!

I would love more Walgreen’s tips–No CVS in my area, but I have a Walgreen’s only a mile away. I’m beginning to realize I may be missing out on something easy there!

I made a killing at Walgreen’s this month. I was so glad I hadn’t made it for the monthly rebate items yet when that $5 coupon showed up. And then I paid for most of it with my rebates from last month.

There’s a free-after-rebate on Pert that you can combine with the Pert coupons and the Pert/Sure school supply rebate.

    Hi Tara ~

If you still have unanswered questions, I just recently wrote a whole post dedicated to “Submitting a Rebate Request” at Walgreens. Step-by-step instructions, etc. Another post on “The Basics” and making money at Walgreens.

Here’s the link for the Rebate info

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
