Consumer Recalls: Toy Trucks
Troy the Activity Truck is being recalled by Infantino LLC, of San Diego, California because the plastic beads on the activity truck’s bead runs can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. The toy truck is blue, red and yellow with plastic star, circle and heart beads attached to the bead runs on the back of the truck and has a face on the front. “Infantino” is printed on the front of the toy truck. Model number 153-210, 206-110 or 506-110C is printed underneath the truck. When its switch is turned on, the truck plays music and the back wheels spin. The affected toy trucks were sold at Babies R Us, Toys R Us, Meijer, TJ Maxx, Marshalls and other toy stores nationwide from September 2009 through February 2011 for about $15.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled toy away from children and contact Infantino to receive a free replacement toy. For additional information, contact Infantino toll-free at (888) 808-3111 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s website.

Jennie-O Turkey Burgers

Jennie-O Turkey Store, a Willmar, Minn. establishment, is recalling approximately 54,960 pounds of frozen, raw turkey burger products that may be contaminated with Salmonella. To prevent salmonellosis and other foodborne illnesses, wash hands with warm, soapy water for at least 20 seconds before and after handling raw meat and poultry, and cook poultry (including ground turkey burgers) to 165° F, as determined with a food thermometer. The recalled products were distributed nationwide to retail establishments and sold in 4-pound boxes labeled as Jennie-O Turkey Store “All Natural Turkey Burgers with seasonings Lean White Meat”. Each box contains 12 1/3-pound individually wrapped burgers and have a use by date of “DEC 23 2011” and identifying lot code of “32710” through “32780”.

Jennie-O Turkey Store has created an online resource for consumers with questions about this recall. It can be found on their website.

CELERITE Slimming Tea

All lots of the dietary supplement, CELERITE Slimming Tea, are being recalled because they contain undeclared Sibutramine used as an appetite suppressant for weight loss. The FDA has not approved the product as a drug, and the safety and effectiveness of this product is unknown. The FDA advises that these products pose a threat to consumers because Sibutramine is known to substantially increase blood pressure and/or pulse rate in some patients and may present a significant risk for patients with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias or stroke. The CELERITE Slimming Tea was sold and distributed nationwide via the internet at www.shapingbeauty.com.

Consumers are advised to return the product to the company’s address in Southampton, PA. Consumers with questions may contact Shaping Beauty, Inc. Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:30 pm at 1-800-728-2850.

Box Fans

Lasko Products Inc., of West Chester, Pa. has announced a voluntary recall of Box Fans because an electrical failure in the fan’s motor poses a fire hazard to consumers. This recall involves Lasko box fans with model numbers 3720, 3723, and 3733 and Galaxy box fans with model number 4733 that have date “2002-03” or “2003-04” stamped on the bottom of the metal frame. “Lasko” or “Galaxy” is printed on the front of the fan. The model number is either stamped or printed on the bottom of the fans. The affected box fans were sold at mass merchandisers nationwide from July 2002 through December 2005 for between $12 and $25.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled fans and contact Lasko to receive a free fused plug safety adapter. For additional information, contact Lasko toll free at (877) 445-1314 anytime or visit the firm’s website.

Combo Axe

About 103,000 Gerber Gator Combo Axes, imported by Gerber Legendary Blades, of Portland, Ore., a division of Fiskars Brands Inc., of Madison, Wis., have been recalled because the knife in the axe handle can come out when the axe is used for chopping or hammering, posing a laceration hazard to the user. This recall involves the Gerber Gator Combo Axe, which has a 7-inch knife in the hollow axe handle. The axe is approximately 8.75 inches long with an axe head that is 4.75 inches x 2.7 inches. The axe handle is marked with the “Gerber” trademark. The Gerber Combo Axe II, which holds a saw in a longer axe handle, is not included in this recall. To see a picture of the recalled axe, go here. The affected axes were sold at retail stores nationwide, including The Sportsman’s Guide, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Bass Pro Shops/American Rod & Gun and online since March 2005 for around $28 – $60.

Consumers should immediately remove the knife from the axe handle and contact Gerber to receive a free handle cap, which will hold the knife in the axe handle during transport and storage, instructions for the use of the handle cap, and a warning label to affix on the axe head. Consumer Recalls: Instant Power Toilet Bowl Restorer + More

Instant Power Toilet Bowl Restorer

Power Toilet Bowl Restorer cleaner, with model number 1803, has been recalled by Scotch Corporation, of Dallas, Texas because the contents can leak from the cap when the bottle is turned on its side. When this happens, the cleaner can come into contact with consumers and property, posing a risk of chemical burns and irritation to the skin and eyes. The model number is printed on the back of the bottle next to the barcode. The toilet bowl restoring product was sold in a grey plastic bottle with an orange cap. The words “Guaranteed” and “Toilet Bowl Restorer” are printed on the bottle. The recalled cleaner was sold at Menards, True Value Hardware, Ace Hardware, GEBO’s and other retail stores nationwide between February 2009 and January 2010 for about $5.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Toilet Bowl Restorer and contact Scotch for disposal instructions and a full refund. For additional information, contact Scotch Corporation at (800) 613-4242 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s website.
