Radio Flyer, of Chicago, Ill. announced a voluntary recall of Scoot ‘n Zoom children’s riding toy because it can tip over allowing a child to fall forward while riding, posing a fall hazard to young children. The recalled toy is red molded plastic with black wheels and measures 19 inches long, 11 inches wide and 13.5 inches tall. The riding toy’s model number 711 can be found molded on the underside of the toy. Units with a yellow UPC sticker underneath the product with model #711B are not recalled. The affected riding toys were sold at Walmart and other retailers, and online at Amazon.com and Target.com from August 2010 through August 2011 for about $20.

Ground Beef

The National Beef Packing Co. LLC, of Dodge City, Kan., has recalled approximately 60,424 pounds of ground beef products because of possible contamination with E. coli. For a detailed list of recalled packages, go here. Each box and chub bears the establishment number “Est. 262” within the USDA mark of inspection. The products were shipped to distributors nationwide for further processing and/or distribution. It is important to note that the products may have been repackaged into consumer-size packages and sold under different retail brand names. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on FSIS’ website.

Miss Bonnie’s Gourmet, LLC is recalling its Miss Bonnie’s Gourmet Classic Cheddar Cheese Spread that was distributed between 8/1/11 and 8/10/11, with a “Best By Date” of December 23, 2011 and batch code number 0116206G113 because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The recalled product is packaged in 8-oz. glass jars and was distributed to Kroger Stores in Roanoke, Virginia; Cincinnati, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; and Memphis, Tennessee.

Philips Flood Lamps

Philips Lighting Company of Somerset, N.J. announced a voluntary recall of EnergySaver a/k/a/Marathon or Marathon Classic Compact Fluorescent Dimmable Reflector Lamps because the glue that attaches the glass outer envelope or globe to the body of the lamp can fail allowing the glass outer envelope to fall and strike persons and objects below, posing a laceration hazard to consumers. The affected flood lamps were sold at grocery and home center stores nationwide, online retailers, and professional electrical distributors from March 2007 through July 2011, for between $11 and $24.

Target Corporation, of Minneapolis, Minn. announced a voluntary recall of Step Stools with Storage because the wooden step stools can break apart or collapse under the weight of the user, posing a fall hazard. The wooden step stool has two steps and comes in various colors, including natural, natural and red, white and honey. Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation of Springdale, Ark. is recalling approximately 36 million pounds of ground turkey products that may be contaminated with a multi-drug resistant strain of Salmonella Heidelberg.
