During the summer we LOVE to go to the local parks with the splash grounds! They are free (but you have to buy a season parking pass for $5) and can keep the kids entertained all day! We usually pack a picnic lunch, play at the park, then spend the afternoon at the splash grounds until it is nap time and everyone starts crashing. Makes for a great summer!

Some things we like to do for the summer are going to the pool and my father-in-laws house and we like to get together with my friends for playdates. These things cost nothing and the kids have te best time.

I love our zoo membership for the summer. It doesn’t take many visits to pay for itself, and I can go for a few hours and leave while the kids are still happy. We always pack snacks to save money. The zoo is open late on Wednesday nights in the summer, so dad will meet us up at least once after work for a night of zoo fun.

We borrow museum passes from our local library, which gives us the chance to go to a science museum, planetarium, and art museum for free or for just a couple dollars/person (depending on the museum). It’s a wonderful way to expose our son to all the museums have to offer, at little to no cost!

We like to meet my sister and her kids at a nearby park. The kids can run and play and the adults can sit and visit! We usually pack a light lunch and eat on the picnic tables.

an outdoor mall near us has water fountains that shoot up from the ground. Lots of people take their kids to play in them. That’s something we like to do ’cause it’s free & keeps us cool. Also the library, parks, free kids movies at the theater, & free bowling. The bowling center here gives each child a free game of bowling for each “A” or equivalent on their report card.

My favorite most frugal activity for the summer with my children has to be going to our local park to enjoy a picnic lunch. It is free and the time spent with my children is priceless! Thanks for a great giveaway :)

We like to take the kids and the dogs to the river or the lake for swimming, fishing, and of course, fetch for the dogs. We also enjoy grilling out while the kids play on the swingset or in the sprinklers.

My most favorite fun and frugal activity for the summer is going to the beach. I pack a bag full of snacks, drinks and a picnic lunch. I have my oldest daughter rummage through all the change in the house and get as many quarters as she can find. We will need these for the meters to park and of course the arcades. We spend half the day playing in the sand, collecting seashells, splashing in the water. The great thing is they have a playground and lots of free entertainment and if you go on the right night we can watch the fireworks. A day full of fun and it only costs the spare change we have hanging around the house.

I like to go for walks while pulling my kiddos in the wagon. They love our two seater radio flyer wagon and I get a little extra excercise too.

I’m a mom of a little 9 month girl, so we can’t do too much yet. But we do love to sit out in the backyard with a bucket of water. Talk about fun and frugal… she can sit there splashing forever! Then if you take a rubber duck and squirt eachother with it, you have lots and lots of fun :)

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
