Our favorite summer activity is to get the family together and have a BBQ. (CARNE ASADA) which is what my mom calls it. And most of the time we spent all day there playing board games, pool, cards, dominos, or chinese checkers. Even though we all have our own families now, it’s great to get all the brother in laws together and see how great we can all get along. it’s good to know that this will contine throughout the years. For now it’s only my son in a family with lots of aunts and uncles but we’re waiting for more to come.

My favorite summer activity with my little guy and hubby is to go to the park in the shade, go take the dog to the dog beach, going swimming or having an indoor playday in the AC. It’s east to stay cool in southern California.

Well my favorite fun and frugal summer activity would have to be metal detecting. You never know what you can find and dig up. If you are frugal and the find is of value you can make yourself some bucks all while having the fun of doing that.
We stay in the air conditioning when its hot with cold drinks and keeping my busy is easy just set a computer in front of him or Video games.

We live in a lake community, so our fun and frugal activities are fishing and swimming.

We will do a lot with water. We will use the sprinkler, paint with water on the driveway, walk thru puddles, use measuring cups with buckets of water, and visit the Y.

We make movies. I let the kids decide the plot, costumes/props and even dialogue if there is any and we get the video camera out and shoot away, then laugh as we view it later.

We have a few “FREE” things we do around here where we live. First, my son brought home a flyer from school detailing a free movie every Saturday morning at 10am at the local movie theatre. They are always kid movies that are newer (been out in the last 3-4 months) and they cost us nothing!
The second thing we do is we have a local park (that is free of course!) that is wonderful! Beyond the normal play areas and picnic areas, they also have a water area that has built in water guns and several water spickets for the kids to bring buckets and their own water guns. There is a huge playhouse built right in the middle! Also, there is a seperate section for little kids that is much calmer so they can have fun, too! We love doing things in the summer and when they are free, they are that much better!!!

My favorite frugal summer activity is sitting on the front porch with my hubby after the kids have gone to bed. With the kids, it’s taking walks through the neighborhood and letting them run through the sprinkler…..they’re 5 and 2, so still pretty easy to entertain ;-)

Our family loves to go to local FREE parks. Nothing better than walking the dog through the woods or just sitting on the grass watching the kids play. We also love the FREE classes at the YMCA.

We have a small pool, and I love to let the kids swim. It is simple, fun, and frugal. Once you buy the pool, there is not much upkeep for one this small. They have the best time splashing and playing.
