We go to our local outdoor mall. They have water fountains that the kids can play in and It helps her stay busy for a couple hours as well as keep cool, Then she plays on the Play place and goes back to play in the water for a little bit! These swimmers and Sunscreen spray would be perfect for those days! Thanks

We have five kids so we have to keep them busy! One thing that we started last year was a city Park Tour. We go to all the different parks in our area. Then the kids mark off that park on the list. They have loved doing this and it is great family time.

FROZEN TOYS: We enjoy at night filling favorite plastic drinking cups (like the ones from Ikea) and putting small things like a ball, army men, dinosaur or anything tiny in them. Maybe 3-4 per cup. Fill with water, leave a spoon in and freeze. In the morning or some hot part of the next day, we’ll take them to the porch and watch ’em melt. As they melt, their fun “new” toys are revealed. This is fun with ages 2-5. We also do this at bathtime too. Helps them appreciate always what’s around them.

Vacation Bible Schools are the bomb! Kids get to learn about love, respect, and Jesus; make crafts and play games; sing and dance and make friends for FREE! And a giant plus is that mom gets some free time while the kiddos get all their energy out — mine come home dying for a nap!

My favorite frugal summer activity is a tie between going to the movies (AMC) on wednesday for the $1 10am showings with the $3 kids tray or going to our FREE sprinkler/fountain park with the kids, great for hot sunny days!

My favorite frugal activity is the hose in the garden. My kiddos love the garden and the hose, and we always end up in a water fight.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
