We have a local park that is absolutely amazing. It has a water playground where the water comes up out of the ground and the kids go get wet. It has tons of grass and shade and most of the play area is decently covered so the slides, etc., aren’t too hot. It is 100% free, and with all my free CapriSuns, the kids stay hydrated and happy!

I saw this on a blog, but you make “happy fortunes” and you go to a local spot and hide them for people passing by to find. You then linger around to see if anyone finds them! A nice way to give people a little pick me up!

We go to our local waterfall and let the kids wade in the water! It is very shaded and private. It feels like a secret place! The kids love it! we then feel cooled off enough to hike around the rocky wooded area and head home for popsicles and jumping on the trampoline!

We love to fill up the kiddie pool and hang out in the back yard! We also love going to story hours (the ac in the bookstores and library feels great!). We use the library passes to go to museums and the zoo too!

We love playing in the sprinkler, or with water guns. & they boys love to suck on ice cubes…so a coupole of glasses with ice cold water & ice cubes to fish out keeps them busy for hours!

One of our frugal ideas is to get out the baby pool and put it in the backyard. Not only do the kids enjoy it, but our sweet boston terrier jumps in with them.

We love to go for bike rides together. If if is a longer one, we put the kids in the bike trailer and we are off. We also spend a lot of time at the park. We love summer time. Eating picnics in the back yard is another family favorite.

on summer days when it’s too hot for the kids to really go outside or they’re just bored of it, they get into the bathtub (the master bath of course!) and I bring out the bubble and they enjoy popsicles while in the bath! It’s great fun!

    thanks for the super giveaway!

What a great giveaway! Our favorite frugal summer activity is to have a water party in the backyard. Nothing fancy . . . just the sprinkler under the trampoline, a kiddie pool and maybe a few water balloons. The kids love it.

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
