ANYTHING THAT GETS US OUTSIDE!!!! A new study shows that ON AVERAGE a child spends SIX HOURS A DAY ( I repeat, SIX HOURS A DAY) in front of TV, Video Games, Texting on phones or watching DVD’s in a car! It’s time we get our kids back outside interacting with nature! Take time to play with your kids in your backyard or local park or plan fun trips to museums. Or, better yet, take advantage of the many free nature preserves that can be found wherever you live in this country! Take back you family and have some FUN!!!
Teresa
We built a pond in 2002 and on hot Summer days we put on our flip flops, grab a thermos of Kool-Aid and head for the pond. The dock my husband built is perfect for jumping off of and nothing is more fun or cheaper than a cannonball!
Kara
We love to be outside…and on the hot day we pack up and head to the Lake…there are slides and swings and diving boards…something for all ages…. We love summer!!!!!!!

I love watching kids playing in the sprinkler! I remember I had so much fun doing that when I was little and watching their giggles reminds me of that! Thanks for the giveaway!

If we want to cool off with a treat, we “cook” in the kitchen — cold stuff. We make popsicles using fresh fruit — like kiwi and strawberry. We also make cold pasta salads, etc. to keep them occupied and having fun.
Of course, water play is always a hit… but this is mentioned hundreds of times already (mister, sprinkler, local pool, creek, etc)!

I love taking my kids out for a simple picnic in our local, free and interesting historical park.

A fun and frugal way to have fun in the summer is to buy an inexpensive snowcone maker and have a snocone party with the kids. It’s fun, afordable, and keeps you cool.

MY DAUGHTER LOVES PLAYING IN HER KIDDIE POOL. ITS FUN FOR HER AND ALLOWS ME TO DO MY OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES WHILE KEEPING AN EYE ON HER.

Our neighborhood has a pool so that’s always fun exercise that tires the kids out and is free! And we LOVE our library in the summer with their reading program and activities. Thanks.
Miranda S.
We do storytime every week and use the books read towards the numerous reading program logs we have. Since we are in south Texas it makes for a cool afternoon once a week!

A local outdoor mall has a water fountain the squirts out of the ground. It is a great place to go for free to catch some rays and get sprayed!

We do picnics at the park with neighborhood friends the 1st and 3rd Mondays every month. Great way to stay connected and let the kids wear themselves out. Always makes for a great nap afterwards too leaving me with some quiet time which is always nice ;)

For some summer fun, I like to fill a few plastic tubs with water (in the backyard), and let the kids go wild! They keep cool and have lots of fun.
