We “splurge” on a local theme park (Gilroy Gardens) and go about every two weeks for fun with our 2 beautiful daughters. After a fun day at the park, we go to our favorite local BBQ place to “rejuvinate” before heading back home. Other than that, we read, go to all the local parks and beaches, and pretty much take a summer long “Staycation”. Whee!

We love to blow bubbles and play in the sprinklers, can’t get any more frugal! To splurge we love going to Six Flags or Reno!

Our above ground pool and bar-b-cue grill are my two main tools in keeping the grandkids occupied this summer.

VBS has been a part of most of our summers. Now that my girls are teenagers, they are helpers and really enjoy the little kids. We also have a lake lot campsite of our own with a pool nearby so we like to go out there for a relaxing get away.

I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old. Blowing bubbles, sidewalk chaulk and runnging threw sprinklers are big hits around here!! My girls are lucky enough to have a lot of cousins their age so we do a lot of playdates during the summer since my sister is a teacher and has the summer off!

We have a neighborhood pool and a kiddie pool in the backyard that my girls love. I also got some pool toys at the dollar store that were a big hit.

We get a t-shirt for each kid, get it wet and freeze it. Then, a couple hours later, we can have a frozen t-shirt contest! The first person who can put on their frozen t-shirt gets to help pick out dinner that night.

We spend a lot of time at local parks in the mornings during the summer. We love to feed the ducks and geese.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

We love going to the neighborhood pool, storytime at the library, using our zoo membership often, ice cream at McDonald’s and going to the splash pad at the local park.

There’s a really nice park close to me with miles of walking trails, a lake, and a huge playground…That’s always fun and we pack a picnic

We have transformed our backyard into our own summer oasis. We have a small pool (our kids are young and don’t need much more than that), a sandbox w/beach-like sand instead of pricey playsand, and we got a good deal on a gazebo – for mom and the new baby! The kids can relax, cool off and run around all in the same place. We’ll save money on gas and travel snacks and packaging.

I also forgot to mention that our local children’s museum offers volunteer opportunities. In exchange for 15 hours of volunteering in their beautiful garden, I will get a free reciprocal membership to museums around the country for one year. It’s a great opportunity for a stay-at-home mom like me to get some outside alone time and earn my family a great membership!

My daughter will be one this July, so this will be our first summer to really do anything. We can’t wait to take her swimming at Grandma’s and camping at the local park. She loves to be out side and tries to get out as soon as the front door opens.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
