Our very favorite frugal summer fun day is taking the boat to the lake and spending the whole day playing in the water and having a picnic lunch. There is no better way to spend the day !!!
Tami
My kids’ favorite thing to do on a hot day is take large squirt bottles and squirt things. We have a rule, no squirting people, so they squirt everything but. It quickly evaporates. They also like to take large paint brushes and “paint” the house, sidewalk, etc.
Tara
My favorite summer frugal activity is to take a bike ride with my daughter and husband on the many trails around our house.

My little is only 2 years old. But to stay cool we fill up his little pool, go to local pool that we got mbrship to for cheap not in our town but next cause its a 10 min drive and 150.00 cheaper than our town, we go to the lake and play with the garden hose.
to keep busy we take mini trips to local things that are offerin free or cheap entertainment… zoo free on fathers day, science cntr free if you bring a snowball with you ( yes a snow ball, we use our ice shaver and stick them in the freezer), go to the park, also the pool has movie nights after hours for 1.00 get to watch a movie in the park ( you vote during week for the movie you want)
Weiner roast, smores….. and all of us moms jibber jabber

We run in the sprinkler while we water the lawn. =P And eat snow cones that are either just the ice or have 100% juice on them.

We go for morning or evening walks (when the temperature is cooler) and this gives the kids an opportunity to explore the area where we live!

I love to camp in the back yard. we have a little portable fire pit and roast marshmellows and set up tents and camping chairs and even pee in the bushes! it’s cheap, fun, and very silly!

Summer fun for our family is always on a limited budget! For outdoor fun, we try to go at least once each week to a water play park – these are local parks with water play features – and best of all they’re free!
We also picnic once a week for dinner. The kids think it’s great and we have a good time.
We schedule playdates at the park with other moms. We just spread the word to gals we know of what park and what time and hang out together.
We make homemade popsicles, which are almost free and the kids think are awesome.
When the weathers really bad we head to Chuck E. Cheese – which seems expensive, but I always take a buy 60, get 40 free coupon ($10.00) which you can usually find online, or get one by becoming a member of the Chuck E. fan club. I ration out the tokens and they know that when their tokens run out, their game time is over! We also eat before we head to Chuck’s so the kids don’t whine for the pizza (which is terrible anyway!)
