I am a subsriber. To have fun and keep cool on those really hot days, we make a homemade splip-n-slide out of large trash bags taped together. The trick is to slick it up with some dish detergent before running the water. It’s lots of fun for all of us.

I am a subscriber….love your blog! Also, we bought a pool last year for about $50, it is big enough that my husband, my daughter and I can all fit and have room to play. It is the perfect size for kids to play in and have lots of fun! We are getting our moneys worth!

We go out for ice cream cones or frosties when it gets warm, or I’ll fix ice cream cones at home. I don’t have the backyard pool anymore, but I turn on the waterfall, and the the sound of running water has a soothing & cooling effect. Love the giveaway. What a great idea. I’m going to joing the Deal Seeking Moms forum now.

During the summer, we like to go ice blocking! We go to the grocery store and buy ice blocks. Then we go to a grassy park with hills, sit on our blocks (on top of a towel) and slide down over and over again! It’s SO fun!

Last weekend we did the whole beach scene! SHe is a water baby! So even if were at home…she is begging for her little outside pool! She loves it. On rainy days (which in FLORIDA you never know when its gonna rain). We do lots of puzzles, and she helps me bake cookies for her daddy!!!

The most simple fun things we own are some frisbees we picked up at a health fair a couple years ago. We take a few of them to the park, use them as sturdy paper plate holders, then toss them around for fun and exercise. The best part is that they take up very little space and are easy to clean.

We are lucky to have parks that have spray grounds. We pack a lunch and head to the park for fun in the sun and best of all it is FREE!

We’re working hard on getting kids of our own, but while we wait we love to borrow other people’s. =) One of our fun, frugal summer activities is taking the kids to a neighborhood splash park. It’s free, and it’s water… so we love it and so do they!

When the weather gets hot, we either head to the beach (free), go to the local splash park (free)or set up a blow up swim pool and/or run through the sprinklers (was less than $10 at Wal-Mart). :-)

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
