I never did the $5 off deal. Any idea if it still works, and if I could possibly do both since I’ve never ordered before?

Honestly, I’m not sure, Jessica. If I remember correctly, the $5 was deducted before you actually submit the order, so if you want to try it, you can always choose not to submit it if it doesn’t work.

I don’t think that you can use both promotions together though, and if you use the $5 now, it will make you ineligible for the $10 deal.

I have a question – this kept me from trying the earlier $5 deal. If I’m not home during the day of delivery, what happens? I’ve read so many comments from people who mentioned telling the drivers to come back or to wait for future orders or whatever, that implies those folks are all home at the time of delivery. But I doubt I’d be here, not getting home till after 5 most days. So is this a pointless service for someone in my situation? Thanks to anyone who can enlighten me :)

    Fairy Dust-

They have two things that they can do for people in your situation that don’t get home until the evenings.
First being, they have Freezer Bags that you pay for once (you keep them and they are reusable) that they put your food in and leave on your doorstep (or where ever else you tell them to leave it), and the freezer bags keep the food frozen for many hours. Not sure on how well it would do with Ice Cream, but I know that the “normal” foods keep well in them as long as they are sitting directly in the sunlight.
The other solution is to have the driver come after you get home from work. The drivers typically work until very late at nights (7PM, sometimes even later than that), and this helps people in your situation if you would prefer to not have your food sitting in the freezer bag.
I’ve had both in-person deliveries and freezer bag delivers, because I am a SAHM with 2 young guys and a new baby due in just a few weeks- needless to say I’m not always around when they come to drop off my goodies. I’ve had pleasant experiences both ways- One time I did order ice cream when I needed a freezer bag delivery (I always do pre-orders online with my card information stored so I don’t have to worry about writing out a check or counting out cash at the time of delivery), and my driver actually called me the day of my delivery and asked me when I would be home because they felt uncomfortable risking my ice cream melting! They’re great, and willing to please for sure.
Give them a try- I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!
    Hope I helped.

Oops! I meant to say…. “but I know that the “normal” foods keep well in them as long as they AREN’T sitting directly in the sunlight.”
Sorry about that! I get too ahead of myself sometimes!

I just did this, its 1:13 pm my time here in MT. I just clicked through the link, I wasn’t sure how it would work. I picked something for $9.99 (a gallon of fudge ripple ice cream yummy) and went to check out, and had to register. It automatically applied the promotion after registering and going to check out again. I’m at home during the day, so I chose the deliver to my home option. There was also a leave at the door step option, but you had to pay a one time fee of 4.99 for the freezer bag. So glad I found out about this promotion, thanks DealSeekingMom!!

I tried a little while ago and managed to get an item into my cart, but then after I entered all the info to register, it timed out on me and gave me a “we’re sorry” message that the service was unavailable and to try back. Now that I’ve heard there’s a $4.99 charge for a freezer bag, I think maybe I’ll just skip the promo altogether (plus, it might already have me as registered now and not allow me to participate as a new customer anyway). Hope others, like Elise, have better luck! :)

I ordered some ice cream. I haven’t had their ice cream since I was in high school. I tried to order two and get the ten taken off, however, it seems you can only get one item, under ten, free. Wonderful for FREE!

LOL! I gave up. I got back in, tried again, got as far as the delivery screen and it wouldn’t let me pick the freezer bag option. The only available option was delivery, and it just doesn’t seem worth it since I don’t know if I’ll be there, my afternoons aren’t regular at all. I think this is a wonderful campaign they’re running, but I guess I’ll be passing :)

I never had any luck getting an order to go all the way through, and apparently my son tried, also, but then left his ice cream order unsubmitted because it wouldn’t give it to him under the “free” deal. So somehow his account got crossed with one of the items I’d tried to order (frozen tortellini) and they delivered my item to him (after calling his cell phone to confirm he’d be there) but at our house, not his house. LOL! Very strange. I offered to split the tortellini with him, but he wasn’t interested and seemed mostly amused by the whole thing :)

they credited the delivery fee and any pennies over. I just figured I pay the seven cents that I owed in cash at first. My receipt showed that i was owed nothing.

    Hi Ladies

I am a former Schwans Route Mngr and have been enjoying your discussion. I agree that Schwans is way overpriced. I thought this when I was a Route Mngr-I even thought it when I received a 20% staff discount.

With all due respect, there is much more to Schwans than what you have talked about. A site called http://www.retailreality.net is a site frequented by former Route Mngrs and current employees. The discussions are very graphic, and no holds barred. Schwans has been involved in illegal activities, and seriously exploits, lies to its employees.

There is a current case of a Schwans Rt Mngr sexually assaulting a customer, and incredible as it is, Schwans Management sexually assaulting employees.

Schwans is a discpicable company, and I strongly suggest not buying from there and tell others to do the same. Also, do not work for this company, and advise others to do the same. Don’t support tyrants.

    Steve
