How’s Your Electrasol/Finish Stockpile?

January 25, 2010 by Tara Kuczykowski 45 Comments

Have you been stockpiling dishwasher detergent with the $2.50/1 Finish or Electrasol coupon that was in the 1/3 Smartsource insert? If not, there’s still time to order some coupons from eBay or a coupon clipping service and use them before they expire on 1-31-10.

All together (including the $8.35 I spent on coupons) I spent slightly over $18 for 22 boxes of Electrasol/Finish Dishwashing Detergent, including 6 double-count packages, a savings of over 80% off. Had I paid retail for them, I’d have paid at least $97 — wow!

Here’s the breakdown:

  • 4 boxes at Walgreens when they were FREE a few weeks ago
  • 6 double-count boxes at Discount Drug Mart for $0.49 ea.
  • 12 boxes today at Kroger for $5.88 with the Mega Sale

The Kroger Mega Sale is good through at least next Sunday, so get out there and stock up!

I have! I bought 10 coupons on HCW for $2.50, plus the cost of a stamp. Then I bought the boxes at Discount Drug Mart for 49c each. I was able to snag 2 of those bonus boxes!

That is awesome! I don’t know how you do it- I have a 20 month old and a 4 year old and I can rarely find the time to score some of the great deals by buying coupons and stocking up. I have had more than a few meltdown embarrassing experiences at Walgreens and CVS with them in tow. You are my hero! I did get 3 boxes at Walgreens

LOL, Tamara — I actually sent my husband to Kroger today with a list and explicit instructions on how many to buy and which coupons to use. He’s my “couponer in training!”

Did Kroger let you use all 12 coupons in one transaction? I just used my last coupon on Saturday at Target, I wish I had waited and got the Kroger deal!

My Target actually had a sign on the register for the cashier that said “if a customer tries to use 2 of the same coupon in 1 transaction – call the store manager”

    I was shocked!

I wish we had a Kroger here. I’ve heard there are some great sales there. We pay an enormous amount for everything in Washington state, and it would be great to find a place with some good savings.

Yes, I am very lucky also. I have about ten in my stash and got them for .50 each. About the time my stash starts getting low, they put out a another coupon.

At Harris Teeter, they will not take a coupon on the free item of a BOGO. HOWEVER, since I am not that picky, I purchased one gel pack, one hard pack and the quantum for a total of three in one trip. Because they were different and not EXACT — they rang up with no problem.

I need to find some deals on it before the 31st! I didn’t have the extra coupons when I could have gotten them free or cheap, ugh! Now I have some and need a good sale.

Why aren’t there ever great Cascade deals.
All you Electrasol stockpilers make me jealous.
My dishwasher is brand picky, he must have learned it from the previous owner, cause I have tried every detergent and the only one that works is regular powder cascade.
    Grrrrr!
    Enjoy your rockin’ stock!

And I thought I had a stockpile!! I got 13 at Target a week ago for $1/box and I ordered a few more Q’s this week for the Kroger sale.

Ha! Tara, my hubby is also a couponer in training!! I have a 2-yr. old and a 4-mo. old, so he’s been doing quite a few “deals” lately. I just type it all out and he does SO well!

My Target is clearing out some of the tabs…not the gel pacs…I think I saw $3.48 today for a box. With coupon, they’d be less than $1 per box!

I am jealous of you ladies with compliant husbands. Where mine will buy the items I sent him for and usually remembers to use the coupons- he wilts at any sign of questioning or confrontation about a coupon and will justify purchasing 20.00 or more of other stuff(usually beer or coffee) because of the money he just saved. My husband has extremely expensive taste in both of the fore mentioned items. And the worst thing is he will pay retail for stuff that i usually have a stack of coupons for if i had only known…He thinks I’m crazy-lol!

I have 16 boxes of the power ball tabs, some of which are the 25 packs(Walgreens), 2 boxes of the regular size Electrasol detergent(closeout at Bi-lo) and 3 big jugs of the Electrasol liquid(closeout at Bi-Lo). I think I’m set for a while! I had to order my coupons but it was well worth it.

Just wanted to let you know that I recently purchased 4 more boxes of Electrosol at Target. It was on the clearance endcap marked down to $3.00, so ended up being 50 cents after coupon and I had 4 left. I have a total of 13 boxes… Thanks for all of the heads up on deals!

With all of the Finish/Electrasol coupons that have been coming out, I think I have about an 18-month supply now – most of which cost me less than 50 cents a box.

The best deal I got was this week – The Target register spit out a $1 off Electrasol Target coupon that I combined with the manufacturer coupon… plus it was on clearance at my store, too – FREE Electrasol!

Amy, Food 4 Less is a Kroger affiliate, but the site says it’s a “price impact store,” so I’m not sure if they have the same sales or not. I’d check your ad to be sure.

WOW that is a great supply. I was never able to get any. Our area did not get the coupon and the stores I shop at were always out, so I figured it was not worth my time buying the coupons. I will have to try again. Hopefully there will some great coupons in the future.

Kroger affiliates have the best deal which you can find linked in my post, Mel. I’ve heard that several people have found them on clearance at Target making them less than $1 each; however, I didn’t have any luck at my store. Walmart is usually the cheapest beyond that.

Does anyone else know of another sale?

Target has the electrasol clearanced out at $3.00 or $3.38 a box depending upon the store. I bought my last 10 boxes with coupons ordered thru ebay last week. And, my Target was kind enough to match the Big Lots deal on All detergent, which I got for 50 cents a bottle (for 10 bottles)after my $2.00 dollar coupons which I also ordered off ebay. What a wonderful deal! Now, I am searching for the next deal, shaky, needing my coupon deal fix.

How long is the shelf life of this stuff? We stockpiled all ours when we got it free at WG, we have enough for a 3 year supply if it will last that long on the shelf.

    Messege to Kel:

Not sure where you are at in US…I’m in FL. I also have been having the same problem with target. They are stating one coupon per item means you have to ring each item seperately to use more than one coupon?! So if you buy 5 electrosol and have 5 coupons – they have to ring each seperately or they refuse to take the coupons!!! I’m not sure whos training them on coupon policies but this is totally wrong.

It might be a good deal but after I switched to using this insead of cascade gel packs ( I made the mistake of buying 5 boxes with those coupons like you did) my dishes are still dirty after they are washed and it leaves a nasty residue. So in other words, I feel it was a waste of my money. I’d rather wait for the cascade paks to get cheap then waste my money on low quality detergant. Oh and som etimes I have to rewash my dishes. So sad, I used to love Electrasol.

I stockpiled these last time this coupon was out and will never use them again. Believe me, I was glad to get detergent for 50¢/a box, but it just didn’t clean my dishes. I’ll have to pass on this one.

Target has some of these marked down to $3.00 a box on Clearance down the aisle. With the $2.50 coupons, that would make them $.50 a box.

Surprised that others don’t like these. I love them. We have a Bosch Dishwasher and the detergent works GREAT!

I’ve found that detergent is only as good as the dishwasher. Once our dishwasher was replaced with a better one, most detergents work so much better.
