As you can imagine, laundry is a never-ending chore around here with five active kids. all® Small & Mighty® laundry detergent is one of my preferred brands, and I love the convenience the new 96-load bottle. Of course it doesn’t last anywhere close to six months around here, but I appreciate the ease of dispensing it and its stain-fighting capabilities!
Two Deal Seeking Mom readers will each win a coupon for a free bottle of all® Small & Mighty® 3x Concentrate (up to $6.50)! These would be great to hold onto until the next BOGO sale at CVS so that you can get TWO free bottles of detergent!
To enter, leave me a comment with your best money-saving laundry tip.
Here’s a little tip from me to you — I can generally find a better price on the smaller bottles of All Small & Mighty, so I save my larger 96-load bottle and refill it with them!

Thanks for hosting this great giveaway! We use dryer balls here to save money, and I mix 1 cup liquid fabric softener with 2 cups water to make it last longer, and it smells just as fresh as non-watered down softener!

I make my own laundry detergent. Recipe here: https://www.duggarfamily.com/recipes.html

My biggest laundry saver is to use our outside clothes line instead of the dryer. If it’s too cold or rainy here (we live in PA), I have
another clothes line in our basement. It does take more time and I have to admit I sometimes take the dryer shortcut. But you can definitely see the savings when we don’t use the dryer.

I try not to use as much as the recommended amount and will usually do a full load. I noticed that the Downy ball requires less fabric softener as well.

I only use a small amount of detergent.
We kept getting a musty/mildew smell in the washer…came to find out from the repair man that we were using WAY TOO MUCH detergent. The ‘recommended amount’ from the manufacturer of detergent is designed to sell more detergent, not necessarily what is best for the clothes or the washer. As we have a water softener, I was using infinately more detergent than necessary. I now use about 1/2 inch in the dispenser they provide with my detergent.

teach the kids to do the laundry when they have a full load and how to change the settings on the washer and also that the line for the detergent is not when the cap over flows!

Recently I had 2 shirts that had stains on them & I didn’t realize it until after I had already washed & dried them. I tried to treat the stain & wash it again, but it still didn’t come out. I ended up soaking the shirts in a large mixing bowl that had 2 scoops of Oxi-Clean detergent in it. That got both stains out.

I use 2 clean tennis balls in the dryer to take the place of dryer sheets. I’ve never had static with them!

I too use the All Small & Mighty (Free & Clear) because it is so much cheaper than Dreft for my baby! I buy a big box of Surf for our clothes, and then wash hers in the All detergent! Both go on sale and have coupons, so I wait until I find a sale or have a good coupon and stock up! :)

I just combine store coupons and manufacturers coupons. Then stockpile away when I have the chance!

I finally started combining my toddlers clothes with ours. I also use half the recommended dosage. A little goes a long way!

tip – don’t let all your laundry pile up – stay on top of it throughout the week and it’s much more manageable!
Sarah
I always use a smidge under what their “recommended” useage is per load and I also cut my dryer sheets in half– they still do the job, my clothes have no static cling and smell delish and I’ve saved $$! Can’t beat it!
Sarah
I have your button on my blog…gotta share the goodness with friends and family! ;)

Full loads, cold water, my stain stick, and ALL detergent help me stretch my money the farthest.
kasey
I use cold water for almost everything.

I try to do my laundry all in one day. We bought an HE washer to try and save a little more money. I love ALL HE detergent because it lasts longer!

I love All Small & Mighty. It’s my detergent of choice! My laundry tip is to fill your empty detergent bottle about 1/3 with water and shake it around. Then put 2-3 capfuls in the wash and it’s the perfect amout of soap. A great way to get another 2 loads out of an “empty” bottle.

At the end of the month when clearing out my soon-to-be expired coupons, I check to see if there are any without exclusions (on trial or travel size). If there aren’t any exclusions, I go to the travel size section at Walmart or Target and get the small 1 or 2 load bottles/pouches for free or just a few cents.
I have also made my own laundry detergent using the recipes found online. So far, it’s working well and it’s super cheap.

My best money saving tip is to hang clothes outside on the clothesline for as much as is possible. I start the first nice day in the spring, and unless it rains, don’t stop until sometime in the fall. I have wooden drying racks for stuff like jeans, sweatshirts, etc in the winter. I don’t put them in the dryer.
Thanks!
