As you can imagine, laundry is a never-ending chore around here with five active kids. all® Small & Mighty® laundry detergent is one of my preferred brands, and I love the convenience the new 96-load bottle. Of course it doesn’t last anywhere close to six months around here, but I appreciate the ease of dispensing it and its stain-fighting capabilities!
Two Deal Seeking Mom readers will each win a coupon for a free bottle of all® Small & Mighty® 3x Concentrate (up to $6.50)! These would be great to hold onto until the next BOGO sale at CVS so that you can get TWO free bottles of detergent!
To enter, leave me a comment with your best money-saving laundry tip.
Here’s a little tip from me to you — I can generally find a better price on the smaller bottles of All Small & Mighty, so I save my larger 96-load bottle and refill it with them!

I always use a little less laundry detergent, and when weather permitting put the clothes out on the line. Its amazing what the sun does for those stains! And helps on the electric bill!
Laura
What a great giveaway. I always try to do as much laundry as possible in cold water. A little bit of baking soda in the water helps keep my laundry smelling fresh. Walgreens runs this on sale quite a bit, so I use those as my fillers to stock up.

Okay my tip saves us a TON of electricity when dryer clothes for our family of 8(yeas we are DONE) LOL! We had someone test our power usage during use of normal appliances and found that using our dryer, it is a very efficient newer model LG, on DELICATE for EVERYTHING significantly cuts down on power usage(although this is true for any dryer). The higher cycles bump the draw of electricity where the Delicate keeps it at a low steady draw and even if you have to run the cycle twice(I almost never have to do this-only for thick blankets and heavy jeans)it still uses much less power. By implementing this and other power saving strategies, we have reduced our electric bill by just under $200 a month and we live in the eternal state of summer, also know as Florida! We alos use distilled white vinegar in the place of fabric softener, MUCH cheaper, no smell after clothes are done, disinfectant properties are a plus and no worries about bleaching out our colors-it actually helps “set” bright color when used during the first wash of a new item! HAPPY LAUNDERING! (-;

I am still using the Purex and All that I stocked up on a few months back for free or cheap. However, when that supply runs out, if I do not have any more super deals to snag on, I will probably make my own detergent.

I find that we use more soap because the caps are so large. To combat this, every time I bring home a new bottle (before it even goes into the cabinet), I remove the cap, locate the fill line (many are so hard to see) and mark it with a big black permanent market. This way we are sure not to use more than recommended and I don’t have to worry about someone else grabbing a new unmarked bottle.

I dry with half a softner sheet (unscented for my sensitive skin) and 2 dryer balls, that seems to be a good combination.
Heidi
I make my own dtergent and use dryer balls. Saves me a TON of money. And hassle too, since making the detergent makes a lot at once so it’s less likely that I run out when the soccer uniform HAS to be washed by tomorrow morning!

I’ve started adding washing soda to my really soiled clothes (husband is a mechanic), and towels. The clothes appear to be cleaner and fresher. I also am a firm believer that my front load washer has signficantly cut down on our energy and water consumption.

My money saving tip is to purchase when its BOGO.
Nathalie
I add a bit of water to my fabric softener when adding it to my dispenser. My washer repair man told me to do this to save wear and tear on my front loader. Fabric softener is made of parrafin, which is wax and it gums up your washer’s parts and causes malfunctions.

Save clothes by keeping stain remover (your frugal one of choice – I mix up some laundry detergent in a little spray bottle) in every room that stains occur so that they never have time to set. I keep one in the kitchen, one in my son’s nursery, and one in the top drawer of my dresser.
Amanda
My best laundry tip is to use vinager for your towels when they have that musty smell. I use about 1/4 cup per load.
Natalie
I always wait for full loads and use just a little detergent, plus dryer balls are used instead of sheets!!
erin
Best money-saving laundry tip is to combine sales with coupons, also use a little less than where the line falls on the cap.

My best laundry savings tip is Ivory bar soap, it works great on formula stains.
Sophie
Well, usually to cut down on my water usage I just wait to do laundry until I can do a full load. I try to even it out so I can do 1 load of lights and 1 load of darks but I find I only need to do that if I just purchased brand new clothes and don’t want that ink to get on my lights and whites. Also, I like to stock up on good sales and deals on detergent, better to stock up now instead of wait until I really need it and have to buy it full-price.
Wendy
I always use a tad less laundry soap than where the line falls. I have 2 boys, so there are plenty of stains/grubby clothes at our house, but the little bit less detergant that I use never has an impact on getting the clothes clean.
