Walmart wants to help you stretch your back-to-school clothing budget. With basics priced at just $10 or less, you can dress your student for an entire week for under $50!
Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . I was a little skeptical too, but Walmart provided me with a $50 gift card to check it out for myself, and I’m happy to report that it’s absolutely true. I got all of the items pictured below for just $53!

Yeah, so I exceeded my budget just a tad, but my oldest boys are thrilled at the additions to their back-to-school wardrobe! We don’t have hand-me-downs since they’ve worn the same size for as long as I can remember (they’re 12 months apart), so I’m thrilled at how these savings have stretched our clothing budget.
Would you like to take the $50 Walmart Back-To-School Challenge?

Walmart is always a good place to start as there regular prices as they are usually cheaper. The sale rails at target are always good too. I also like the resale shops especially for out of season clothes for trips or for sending a kid north to visit granny.

I always use coupons whenever possible and I check all the sale flyers to see who has the best deals. I try to keep track of regular prices also so I know what’s a good price as opposed to a great sale! Thank you for the contest!
Kathleen
I shop clearance racks and sales year round for the best deals especially on clothing. Thanks.

My best back to school strategy is to stock up each year when school supplies are at their lowest. This year I already had a tub full of folders, lined paper, spiral notebooks, pens and pencils that I got for next to nothing last year when supplies when on clearance. Also, we just look around the house for any other basics we can find. Our backpacks are still in good condition as well as our pencil holders.
As for clothes I shopped lots of good clearance sales last year at the end of the season so we don’t really need much but new shoes for the year!

My favorite four letter word is SALE and that the only way to shop these days.

I always buy lots of my clothes at Wal-Mart! My latest love is the Champion shoes for only $9.00! They are great! I bought my boys each two pairs so when one is dirty, they can wear the other color. They love them! I would LOVE to be the lucky winner of this gift card!

One method I use to help keep the costs down is to always use plastic containers when packing items in my children’s lunch boxes as opposed to plastic baggies that get tossed in the trash. It does make washing dishes a little longer but it’s worth the few pennies we save each day!

I L-O-V-E CVS and there FREE! school supplies!

I try to save money by making sure I buy shoes for the children when they have outgrown their existing pair. Sometimes the children will go back to school in an old pair, then when their feet grow I will buy a new pair.

I have a few basic strategies:
Clothing: Freecycle! For the past two years I have bought little to no clothing for my boys – I simply post a request for the size I need on my local freecycle yahoo group forum. (I also keep my eyes open for offers of clothing in upcoming sizes and grab them when they’re available!)
Food/snacks: this one is basic, I just watch the sales and match coupons. I’ve also found that stores that run catalina deals are the best for stocking up – often with sale, coupon, and catalina I can get granola bars and fruit snacks for next to nothing.
School supplies: CVS. Need I say more? I am loving their back to school free items!
Btw, before I discovered freecycle I bought my boys clothes from Walmart. Their quality is incredibly good for the prices. I’d love to win a gift card.

I don’t wait until my kids need the clothes to buy them. I buy ahead to take advantage of great deals I find at consignment shops/sales and garage sales. By the time they need new clothes, I pull the next box out of storage and have an instant wardrobe.

It is a lot of running around but I buy school supplies when they are like a penny or 10 cents. Makes a big difference. Thanks for the great giveaway.
