I have been looking all summer for the best deals for school supplies and have made many trips to different stores. You definitely need to pay attention to prices so you recognize a low one when you see it.

I love shopping super double coupons at Kmart! I also like to use coupons on back to school loss leaders to get things for free!

With 4 kids, outfitting them for school can be very expensive. At the end of every summer, my neighbors and I have a “swap and shop”, where we all bring clothing, shoes, bookbags, etc. that our kids have outgrown, and we swap. The items may be used, but they are new to our kids! Not only does this cut down on the cost of school clothing and supplies, but it’s better for the envoiorment because we are finding a new purpose for items that otherwise might be thrown away. After the swap, I usually only have to buy a few filler items like underwear and socks, and maybe two or three new items per child.

I buy ahead. My kids have a couple of hoodies that they wear all the time. They buy cheap t-shirts for underneath. We always shop the bargain racks for shirts, but pants they get to buy full price, if they look good.

My best tip is resale shopping – unbelievable how some clothes is brand new! We’ve cut done by watching what the kids really NEED as opposed to what the WANT:)

I shop in advance, way in advance, for instance, I buy winter clothes in the summer, and vise-versa. For school supplies, CVS had that covered the past few weeks!

I never stop shopping. With 5 kids, I shop the clearance sections all year, I generally buy the next side up if im buying summer clothes in winter and vice versa. I buy supplies like pencils after holidays like valentines day I got 16ct pencils in sports theme and pink/hearts for 10 cents each. I have also found its cheaper for me to get the kids school lunch. If we keep lunch items in the house, they usually eat them up after school and on the weekends and it ends up costing me double.

I keep lots of fresh fruit for after school snacks along with yogurt and cheese sticks are a big hit, coupons, sales, and farmers market(in the summer) are the best bang for my buck.

I have gone to the stores and picked up the sale items for supplies and clothes. Also started to clip coupons which is so helpful in saving money.

Whenever I go into a store I go straight to the clearance sections, alot of stores do markdowns daily or have a specific day for each department.

We buy stuff on clearance and then hang on to it for a year. As for lunches, we use small reusable containers for fruits, veggies and dips rather than buying chips and stuff.

I always try to shop for the next year, taking advantage of the great deals that are available at the end of the season. Outlet stores are usually great to shop too, discounts on top of the discount already given for being the end of season.

I have 4 kids, 3 of which are in Elementary. So I started back when school let out! I slowly buy pieces here and there. I shop alot of different stores and usually buy one piece at a time. Today, I was at Walmart and found a $5 shirt for my 5 year old. It is so cute!

Our school sends the list for the following year home on the last day of school. I buy with coupons and sales/closeouts throughout the summer. I also had a healthy supply left over from last years supplies. We did pretty good with saving this year. Clothes was the biggest expense.
