Walmart wants to help you stretch your back-to-school clothing budget. With basics priced at just $10 or less, you can dress your student for an entire week for under $50!
Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . I was a little skeptical too, but Walmart provided me with a $50 gift card to check it out for myself, and I’m happy to report that it’s absolutely true. I got all of the items pictured below for just $53!

Yeah, so I exceeded my budget just a tad, but my oldest boys are thrilled at the additions to their back-to-school wardrobe! We don’t have hand-me-downs since they’ve worn the same size for as long as I can remember (they’re 12 months apart), so I’m thrilled at how these savings have stretched our clothing budget.
Would you like to take the $50 Walmart Back-To-School Challenge?

It seems like every store has special sales and coupon offers. I try to keep up with all the local stores as well as special internet offers. Blogs have been invaluable in finding all those special prices.

I buy as many of the supplies that I can from the Walmart clearance shelves during the summer. Just shopping at Walmart saves you money.

This is how I save money on school supplies:
I have two daughters, one year apart. When my oldest daughter Jourdan doesn’t use all of her school supplies once the school year is over, I save them for my youngest daughter Jasmine to use the following year – pencils, filler paper, spiral notebook, erasers, etc. For a barely-used spiral notebook , I personalize it for Jasmine with stickers to make it her own. She loves color!

I like to buy clothes out of season when they are practically sold at yardsale prices. I also like to subscribe to all the websites of the stores that I shop at. They send me coupons and notify me of special sales.

I consider myself a super shopper but all this for $50? I’m impressed!

Subscribe to mailing lists of all your favorite stores and apply for their credit cards (even if you never use them). You get all kinds of coupons, “members only sales info”, and extra percentages off your purchases. Also, for baby items I highly recommend garage sales. Babies don’t usually wear out their clothes and you can pick up alot of name brand stuff especially in the nicer neighborhoods for cheap.

My son loves Wal-marts athletic pants, I hope to be able to stock up on a few of those!

My best tip is to always be on the lookout for amazing deals. I skim clearance racks 1st. If its cute and very inexpensive I will buy it even if it is a size or 2 too big. I buy out of season items to get the best deals.
