August 17, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

Wal-Mart.com USA, LLC

Tune in all week for hot Back-To-School Giveaways. I’ve got some great prizes for the kids, with a couple of special prizes to pamper mom!!! Look for a new 48-hour giveaway each morning and each afternoon, and be sure to check out all of the current giveaways for other great prizes!

This post wasn’t included in the email that went out to subscribers today, so I’m republishing it and extending the giveaway for 12 hours to make sure everyone has a chance to enter!

Walmart wants to help you stretch your back-to-school clothing budget. With basics priced at just $10 or less, you can dress your student for an entire week for under $50!

Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . I was a little skeptical too, but Walmart provided me with a $50 gift card to check it out for myself, and I’m happy to report that it’s absolutely true. I got all of the items pictured below for just $53!

Walmart Dress Your Student Challenge

Yeah, so I exceeded my budget just a tad, but my oldest boys are thrilled at the additions to their back-to-school wardrobe! We don’t have hand-me-downs since they’ve worn the same size for as long as I can remember (they’re 12 months apart), so I’m thrilled at how these savings have stretched our clothing budget.

Would you like to take the $50 Walmart Back-To-School Challenge?

I use coupons and watch sale ads closely for lunch items, clothing, and school supplies. I also check on supplies bought last year to see if they can be reused before buying new (calculators, scissors, pencil boxes, etc.)

To cut costs I have shopped ebay, thrift and consignment shops…and already taken advantage of several great Wal-Mart deals. As fast as little boys grow….an additional $50 would be great!

My back to school strategy has been going to CVS for school supply freebies as well as Office Max. I pretty much have my 3 kids school supplies shopping finished for very little money at all!

I like to shop in the spring for clothes that will fit my kids in the fall when everything is on super-clearance!
I also make my own, snack packs of things, using a big box instead of buying the snack size boxes!
    Thanks!

I am known as the “coupon queen”. If they make it, I’ll use it! I purchase my kids’ school supplies when they go on sale, and use coupons. I also browse Craig’s List from time to time for gently used clothing at a bargain price.

I buy tons of school supplies from CVS when I get ECB for them and they’re free. Walgreens had some pretty good deals too. And I save notebooks from the year before that I didn’t finish using.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
