August 17, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

Wal-Mart.com USA, LLC

Tune in all week for hot Back-To-School Giveaways. I’ve got some great prizes for the kids, with a couple of special prizes to pamper mom!!! Look for a new 48-hour giveaway each morning and each afternoon, and be sure to check out all of the current giveaways for other great prizes!

This post wasn’t included in the email that went out to subscribers today, so I’m republishing it and extending the giveaway for 12 hours to make sure everyone has a chance to enter!

Walmart wants to help you stretch your back-to-school clothing budget. With basics priced at just $10 or less, you can dress your student for an entire week for under $50!

Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . I was a little skeptical too, but Walmart provided me with a $50 gift card to check it out for myself, and I’m happy to report that it’s absolutely true. I got all of the items pictured below for just $53!

Walmart Dress Your Student Challenge

Yeah, so I exceeded my budget just a tad, but my oldest boys are thrilled at the additions to their back-to-school wardrobe! We don’t have hand-me-downs since they’ve worn the same size for as long as I can remember (they’re 12 months apart), so I’m thrilled at how these savings have stretched our clothing budget.

Would you like to take the $50 Walmart Back-To-School Challenge?

I’m an email subscriber and would love the $50 gift card.
Tip: look for deals on the basics (i.e. tanks, t-shirts, shorts). Spend your money on the accessory type items. Mix and match accessories and create more options for outfits.

Keep in mind that Walmart price matches. Bring your ad and all those great deals from the other stores you can get in one spot at Walmart.

As soon as school supplies come out I start making a list of what prices I’ve seen – then I know where the best price is and I know whether an advertised price is really good or if some place else really has the lowest price.

Thanks for the giveaway… Wait until you have the required supplies / materials list from your child’s teacher in hand before buying unnecessary school supplies i.e. some teachers require certain types of notebooks, graph paper, binders, etc.

shop the ads to find the best deals, especially those Office supply stores that offer 1 cent items each week. I stock up on extra glue sticks, pencils & paper while they are cheap because my kids always need more before the end of the year.

Well…have been trying to shop as many of the clearance racks as possible for the past month. But the thing that has worked best is that I took pics of the things I bought with the digital camera so that I can find coordinating pieces while I’m out shopping. That has made my search much easier and cheaper in the long run. Also trying to keep shoes simple this year so they go with everything.

Enlist your family members and friends. If they are hitting Target or Walmart this week, make them pick up what’s on sale there, while you hit other stores you already plan to visit. It can save time and the aggravation of multiple trips.

I have been shopping the $.01 sales at various stores for their school supplies. I could probably open a school supply store right about now. :)

I usually buy clothes the previous year when they go on major clearance. I also like to shop at consignment stores for shirts and jackets to add variety to the wardrobe.
