Walmart wants to help you stretch your back-to-school clothing budget. With basics priced at just $10 or less, you can dress your student for an entire week for under $50!
Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . I was a little skeptical too, but Walmart provided me with a $50 gift card to check it out for myself, and I’m happy to report that it’s absolutely true. I got all of the items pictured below for just $53!

Yeah, so I exceeded my budget just a tad, but my oldest boys are thrilled at the additions to their back-to-school wardrobe! We don’t have hand-me-downs since they’ve worn the same size for as long as I can remember (they’re 12 months apart), so I’m thrilled at how these savings have stretched our clothing budget.

I try to check the clearance rack every time that I go to Wal-Mart. I got some very cute items for my daughter to wear for July 4th for the next few years.

Wal-mart had blueberries at such a great price that I bought several containers and froze them. They’ll be a great snack through the fall and winter!

I try to pick up good deals through out the year on clothes and other needs so we never have to go spend a fortune all at once. Love clearance!

50 dollars would buy a ton of clothes for my7 year old since he can still wear small in boys! He really needs socks, his feet just eat them! Winning would be awesome

My best strategy is to set limits, watch for deals and clearances and use coupons whenever possible.

Joining deal seeking moms everywhere (I’m really NOT trying to suck up here). Because of this forum, I’ve been able to get nearly all our school supplies for free. I’ve even gotten a lot of free stuff to donate to my church’s school supply drive. I’m amoung the first to know about great money saving deals that got me stocked on lunch supplies and even the most expensive part gearing up for school: clothes. Thanks a million!

My kids are grown now, but when they were in school we always shopped for school supplies at Walmart and target. They always had great deals. I always checked the ads for all of the stores and clipped coupons. I shopped for clothing at thrift and consignment shops, and re-sold some of our gently used clothing to Once Upon A Child, which is a popular re-sale shop specializing in baby & children’s clothing.

I buy throughout the year, and put in all in my “supply” closet, so that I never have to pay full price for anything. Oh, the teacher is asking for my 1st grader to bring in three new binders? No problem, I have a bunch I bought when they were only 5 cents each. It saves us so much money!

I buy each child one or two new outfits and a new pair of shoes – then I wait a few weeks. They can still wear their summer clothing for the first few weeks of school. By then, many stores have great sales getting rid of their school clothing. And, by then, my children have a better idea of that the “in” clothing is so I don’t waste money on buying clothes that they do not wear.
