Walmart wants to help you stretch your back-to-school clothing budget. With basics priced at just $10 or less, you can dress your student for an entire week for under $50!
Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . I was a little skeptical too, but Walmart provided me with a $50 gift card to check it out for myself, and I’m happy to report that it’s absolutely true. I got all of the items pictured below for just $53!

Yeah, so I exceeded my budget just a tad, but my oldest boys are thrilled at the additions to their back-to-school wardrobe! We don’t have hand-me-downs since they’ve worn the same size for as long as I can remember (they’re 12 months apart), so I’m thrilled at how these savings have stretched our clothing budget.

I try to stock up on school supplies during the back to school sales. They are usually a lot more expensive later in the school year.

I’ve been buying our kids clothes at the end of each season for the following years. Combined with store coupons, this has always saved us a ton!

I get the Sunday paper and look through all the stores sales and make a list of where the cheapest items are. You can save a lot of money by doing this.

Always buy clothing basics on clearance for the next year(s). I’d pick up a few items here and there when I found a good price, and by the time my son was 2, and I had the bones of a wardrobe up to age 5.

My best back to school savings come from coupons, resale stores, and garage sales. Some of my best desks and dressers have been bought resale and second hand.

You can find some good deals after school starts, when the stores start marking stuff down to get it out of the way for Christmas. Buy what you need now and watch for sales in a few weeks to stock up for the rest of the year.

I shop the outlet stores and I also frequent Kohls when I have the $5/$5 coupons. Makes for cheap clothing and school supplies!

Once we get the school supply list, my girls go through what we have from the prior year to see what can be reused. Then, we go through the unused supplies that we have bought as we got a good deal on it. Then we shop at various stores and pick up the specials each week to finish out the list.

I shopped Wal-Marts school bins and also went to Walgreens this year. I usually just take the list and hit one store.. but this year I was purposeful about it. I am sure I saved!
Denise
I’ve used some of the back to school rebates to get some great deals!

I use thrift stores and consignment shops to stretch a dollar. Generally speaking the clothing I find at the consignment shop is quality stuff and fairly durable. I mainly use Target and Walmart to fill in the gaps with undies and socks as well as shoes.
The Walmart scooters are adorable though. I picked a nice nuetral biege up for DD.

We homeschool, so we eat lunches at home, which saves a lot. We also reuse as much as we can (we can do hand-me downs because we have 4 girls!), we shop ahead for sizes, do garage sales in the summer, and take advantage of back-to-school sales! I also buy as much curriculum as possible on ebay–so much cheaper!

The best way i save money on my entire family is to shop end of season sales. Since we don’t change sizes very often, it’s easy to shop for what we’ll need when it gets rock bottom, often 90% off! I find we’re able to get quality clothes at a huge discount shopping like that than any other way. Getting school supplies throughout the summer at various places, instead of buying them all in one place, helps too!

I save money for back to school, with the incredible deals on school supplies *crayons/markers/etc at Walmart–I always stock up on tons of crayons at less than a quarter a box!
Telisha
Hit the clearance racks…I hit it up all year for school uniforms. I also shop in nearby cities tha don’t follow the same uniform rule that my kids’ schools do. Score great deals that way~
