Walmart wants to help you stretch your back-to-school clothing budget. With basics priced at just $10 or less, you can dress your student for an entire week for under $50!
Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . I was a little skeptical too, but Walmart provided me with a $50 gift card to check it out for myself, and I’m happy to report that it’s absolutely true. I got all of the items pictured below for just $53!

Yeah, so I exceeded my budget just a tad, but my oldest boys are thrilled at the additions to their back-to-school wardrobe! We don’t have hand-me-downs since they’ve worn the same size for as long as I can remember (they’re 12 months apart), so I’m thrilled at how these savings have stretched our clothing budget.
Would you like to take the $50 Walmart Back-To-School Challenge?

We have a great thrift shop where we find lots of our clothes. For school supplies, the back-to-school sales are the best. Walmart has notebooks for 15¢.

I use as many coupons as I can and I try to wait until the have things for really cheap and stock up on them so if they need a refill throughout the year I don’t have to pay full price.
Sarah B .
I home school my children and that really saves on clothing and back to school supplies. If your kids don’t see what currently popular items the other kids have they won’t ask for them either.

We shop around at different stores for the lowest prices/best sales. And we have had to cut back as much as we could. Thanks!

I go where there’s a sale and a coupon :) I always check clearance racks. Also, I look for good deals year round on clothes and school supplies. I just buy a size bigger if I need to. He’ll fit them eventually :)

I keep an eye out for deals throughout the year, not just back-to-school sales.

My children are grown now but I used to save on back to school clothes by shopping at a nearby outlet mall.
Antoinette
I shop during the summer for deals on clothes. That was it not so overwhelming when school starts. Thanks for the giveaway!

The best way to cut costs is to look for Buy One Get One free deals and to buy throughout the year so that you don’t have to spend a lot of money all at once.

I try to buy my children’s clothes a year ahead,so when summer clearance goes on I buy for next year, and so on. I also buy school supplies after school starts for next year.
Tina
I roll Extrabucks at CVS for “FREE” supplies. They make great back to school gift bags! You always take advantage of a good deal when you are able, so later on when things may be a little ‘tight’ you will already be prepared!

We start early getting things on clearance for back to school. Walmart is one of our favorite places to get a good deal.

I’ve cut back this year in back-to-school shopping by saving the clothes that my son received for this birthday in July for school. I have also been been comparing prices at the store I frequent and purchasing the supplies with the best prices.
Erin
I’m always searching for deals at outlets and I buy in bulk!

I make sure I am signed up for coupons/sales at the stores I frequent. It makes a difference if you get a coupon for a certain % of your entire purchase or hit a sale for super cheap jeans, etc.!
And I keep a list of things I need to buy with me so I don’t buy something that isn’t needed!

One of the best ways I’ve saved money on school supplies is simply to rummage through my home for all the pencils, pens, paper clips, folders, etc., that I still have in boxes or drawers, instead of going out to buy new ones unnecessarily. I’ve also become friends with dollar stores, thrift stores, and yard/garage sales for getting clothes, supplies, bags, and more for back to school. Craiglist is another good option for saving a bundle on the items you need. Thanks!
