Walmart wants to help you stretch your back-to-school clothing budget. With basics priced at just $10 or less, you can dress your student for an entire week for under $50!
Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . I was a little skeptical too, but Walmart provided me with a $50 gift card to check it out for myself, and I’m happy to report that it’s absolutely true. I got all of the items pictured below for just $53!

Yeah, so I exceeded my budget just a tad, but my oldest boys are thrilled at the additions to their back-to-school wardrobe! We don’t have hand-me-downs since they’ve worn the same size for as long as I can remember (they’re 12 months apart), so I’m thrilled at how these savings have stretched our clothing budget.

Thrift and re-sale stores! I buy a lot of my daughters uniforms at thrift and resale stores. You can find a lot of stuff still with tags on them! There’s a great store in California called Once Upon a Child that is a resale store that also has a great selection of clothes and gear. You can take in your old stuff for resale and they have a frequent buyers program. We do get some new stuff if I snag a coupon on oldnavyweekly.com or something like that, but I figure why buy new when at her age she’s just gonna get it all stained and ruined anyway, LOL

I STOCKPILE! Paper never goes bad, so all those 1cent deals on notebooks and filler paper that have been going around? I go every day and get my limit. I currently have reams (and reams, and reams) on hand, for a max of 35cents a week.

We are going to pack lunches this year. I have 4 children in school and they are in the upper grades so their lunches are at least $2 a day each. If we pack, I can get each lunch down under $1.00 each. We are also shopping for the cheap school supplies that have been advertised.

My best before school savings tip is to shop for clothes throughout the summer and look for the best deals, but I also take a lot of time to scour through racks upon racks of clothing at various stores. If there are 3 Wal-Marts equidistant to your house (like there is with mine) I check to see who might have something that the others don’t or something that may be on sale at the one but not the others. It definitely helps!
Thanks for the giveaway!

Wal-mart definitely helps the savings. If something is outside of WalMart boundaries be looking throughout the summer for sales.

My best tip is to buy the shirts at walmart and go to a thrift store for pants.

I always take advantage for back to school parties locally and also I like to buy sensible pants like basic colored legging so my daughter can mix and match tons of different looks with different tops. I also get a free lunch bag with the backpack purchase. Hope to win thank you

One way to save is to find a store with layaway. Some stores will even let you come in and change the regular price to the sale price if it changes while on layaway.

Another Mom and I went in together and bought some of our kid’s school supplies. Target had a great deal on notebooks and folders that we bought and split the pack between the two kids. We also bought some stuff at BJ’s. This works great for parents of only children.
April
I make sure each set of pants goes with two or more tops!
