Walmart wants to help you stretch your back-to-school clothing budget. With basics priced at just $10 or less, you can dress your student for an entire week for under $50!
Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . I was a little skeptical too, but Walmart provided me with a $50 gift card to check it out for myself, and I’m happy to report that it’s absolutely true. I got all of the items pictured below for just $53!

Yeah, so I exceeded my budget just a tad, but my oldest boys are thrilled at the additions to their back-to-school wardrobe! We don’t have hand-me-downs since they’ve worn the same size for as long as I can remember (they’re 12 months apart), so I’m thrilled at how these savings have stretched our clothing budget.
Would you like to take the $50 Walmart Back-To-School Challenge?

You can remove printing from last year’s binders (if they’re the slick ones) with glass cleaner. Reuse them this year!

I have done a lot of shopping around this year, as well as some thrifty online shopping over the past couple months and put those clothes away for back to school time. But, a $50 Walmart gift card would come in handy for all those last minute items we either forgot or specific items the teachers want the kids to have.

I’ve been watching the BTS sales all summer and we bought all of our school supplies (and many house supplies) for virtually nothing by only buying the really great deals!

I’ve gotten all of our school supplies either dirt cheap or free by playing the drugstore game at CVS and Rite-Aid. I’ve also taken advantage of the penny deals at Staples. I have had help with my parents, husband and sister going in and each buing the limit per customer. I have enough that I was able to donate supplies as well!

I try to shop for school supplies a year in advance in September and October when everything is on clearance.

You’re in my google reader.

In our schools, school lunches are cheaper than packed lunches, and they’re much healthier than when I was a kid.
Amanda
I’ve gotten a bunch of school supplies for free (except tax) at CVS. I’m new at it, so I’m no pro, but I just took a load of stuff to our local elementary store to donate….my son is too young for school so far, and I know they can use it.

I’d love to enter. I don’t know if I am eligible as my husband works for the company. ;)

I find cheap clothes by garage sailing, my favorite sport:) !

As a stay-at-home mom to 4 kids, back to school can be a daunting task trying to outfit everyone for school and still buy school supplies, lunchboxes and paying enrollment fees. I always look for the best bargains and sales at either Wal-mart or Target on things I know my kids will like so we are both happy.
MaryAnn Swanson
I always get great deals! Its one of my gifts in life. I just walk into a store, smile and meet great people and like magic I get great deals. I’m really appreciative of it. My 17 year old son is too, and he gets it from me as well! :D

I’ve just learned how to save with coupons. So, my favorite has to be this year and all the bargains I’ve gotten on school stuff.

I just scour to find the best sales on whatever it is I’m looking for when it comes to back to school shopping.

I’ve always gone to Kohl’s thinking that they had the best deals for back to school clothes. However, after reading this I’ll have to try Walmart now! The biggest thing we do to save is pack lunch and buy the snack packs in bulk!
Peter
I wait for sales and get the things that were a little pricey the first time shopping. Usually something better comes along that is really loved and on sale.
Nicole B
I find some great deals for my toddler at resale shops. Then fill out the rest of the wardrobe with great basics from Kohl’s, Penney’s, Target and Wal-mart.
Debra F
I have saved a ton by subscribing to deals sites like Brad’s Deals and shopping online. I buy thing when on sale and use coupon codes I find on-line, usually with free shipping as well, and I get great deals. For example, I bought Old Navy jeans for my son and paid $7 a pair – no shipping. Can’t get much cheaper than that, especially for such a great brand.
Denyse
Buy clothes off season – on clearance. Shoes count too ya know, they always go on clearnace.
Missy
Obviously, I shop sales and clearance racks to save money. I also check out consignment stores and the local thrift stores for jeans, because they seem to hold up well and still look ok after having been through the washer a billion times.

Before shopping for supplies on the school’s list, remember to cross off the items you have left from previous years.
