Walmart wants to help you stretch your back-to-school clothing budget. With basics priced at just $10 or less, you can dress your student for an entire week for under $50!
Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . I was a little skeptical too, but Walmart provided me with a $50 gift card to check it out for myself, and I’m happy to report that it’s absolutely true. I got all of the items pictured below for just $53!

Yeah, so I exceeded my budget just a tad, but my oldest boys are thrilled at the additions to their back-to-school wardrobe! We don’t have hand-me-downs since they’ve worn the same size for as long as I can remember (they’re 12 months apart), so I’m thrilled at how these savings have stretched our clothing budget.

This year…we did something totally wild.
We have 3 teenagers….two of which are very fashion savvy girls.
In their bedrooms from years gone by…were every American Girl Doll and accessory one could imagine.
They put them on ebay….and baby! They made some school clothes shopping money for themselves.
This was the greatest reward! I have been trying to prepare for the oldest, a son, to go to college. SO my finances were stretched to the max.
This gave my girls free reign on their spending. They knew how much they each had…and voila!
Saved me SO MUCH!!!

Our school doesn’t provide us with school supply lists until after they start, so while I miss a lot of the “back to school” sales, I always manage to get the items I need on clearance!
Heather
I love to shop a year ahead for clothes. I shop about a size or so up depending on how my kids are growing and buy all clearance. It is especially nice when you find an article of clothing for only $1 or $2. I just go to the clearance racks at the end of each season and pick out what is cute. It saves me tons of money. Then combining coupons, rebates and sales on school supplies saves me a ton too!

Shop the ads to find the best deals on supplies…many stores are having 1¢ sales on certain items. I shop for BTS clothes all year long when I find things on clearance. Kohls has some great clearance sales right now.

Since we are dealing with college now rather than K-12, the major savings was in not living on campus, but at home, since both are going to local schools. The other major item to save on was books. We found all but one of the required books on book swapping and sale sites–including some that were brand new!

I really am just trying to stay focused on how much I’m spending and what I really need to buy – it cuts out a lot of unnecessary spending for me.

I am a loyal subscriber on the RSS feed. I do my back to school shopping at Walmart because it is the closest store and they have the lowest prices.

I get school supplies for low and/or no cost by shopping the great deals at the Office supply stores, CVS, etc.. I also recently redeemed many $1 of 2 BIC products coupons I had, I think I may have enough pens for the rest of my life. As far as clothing goes we only buy on sale.

This year is my son’s first year of Kindergarten (sniff) and he had quite a long (and expensive) school supply list. I was able to get the entire list for FREE or almost FREE by shopping at CVS, Target & Price Chopper (local Kansas City grocery store).

My money saving tips on back to school shopping are using coupons and price matching. That is why I LOVE Walmart, they have the best price matching policy around. Thanks for saving me time and money, I can get all of my stuff in one stop, helping me save on gas too.

My best back to school saving strategy is to shop at walmart.
I have noticed that they do have better bargains as I am always comparison shopping for needed items.

My back to school strategy this years has been using the old navy coupons for cheap school clothes and CVS and walgreens for cheap or free supplies.

I stock up on things like paper. crayons, pens, etc… when they are clearanced after the back to school rush to make room for hoiday merchandise. You can get incredible deals and it is easy to store in a closet for next year.
