Walmart wants to help you stretch your back-to-school clothing budget. With basics priced at just $10 or less, you can dress your student for an entire week for under $50!
Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . I was a little skeptical too, but Walmart provided me with a $50 gift card to check it out for myself, and I’m happy to report that it’s absolutely true. I got all of the items pictured below for just $53!

Yeah, so I exceeded my budget just a tad, but my oldest boys are thrilled at the additions to their back-to-school wardrobe! We don’t have hand-me-downs since they’ve worn the same size for as long as I can remember (they’re 12 months apart), so I’m thrilled at how these savings have stretched our clothing budget.
Would you like to take the $50 Walmart Back-To-School Challenge?

Schools supplies can get expensive. I scour the ads and go for the sales. Don’t ya love the Bic coupons this year! Walmart always has crayons and glue at great price. I wish Staples and some of the other office supply stores where closer. Same with CVS, they are tearing it up this year.
Kelly
We’ve really shopped tons of sales for back to school supplies. Many thanks for this site and giveaway!

One of my favorite back to school tips for saving money and I use this for stocking stuffers for christmas too, I always shop target when they put there things 75%-90% off put them in a tote and store till the next year, you would be surprised how fast that year comes back around, and it takes the stress off of buying everything when school starts, this is especially helpful for backpacks.
Kim
Hey! My favorite tip is to stock up when it is on big-time sale, like glue for 20 cents and when paper is really cheap. Then I won’t have to buy it for years! I have my own stock and when I need something…I already have it! Yay! When my kids say, “I need an eraser or a pencil or paper”, I’ll just say go get it!!!

I have gotten TONS of free stuff by shopping the weekly sales at CVS this year. I also let my kids pick out a really nice (good quality) backpack and then they use it for two years instead of just one!

I have been combining sales with coupons to maximize my money. I can’t believe I went so long without doing so. It is actually fun.

I always get the pre-packaged school supplies that you can order from the school…I don’t know if it’s cheaper, but it sure is conveient

I shop the stores that have school supplies on sale in the ads. For school clothes I have been getting Old Navy with the great coupons.

I stock up on free school supplies the year before with RR at walgreens and great coupons I use when things are on clearance so I don’t pay hardly any OOP. My son is in all year long school and sales on school supplies start after he starts school.
jamie
I like to save money on school clothes by waiting till the end of season and by a size larger for the next year…this way you get it a rock bottomprices

My best back to school money saving tip (aside from coupons and instore ads) is to recycle last year’s school supplies.
Many supplies can still be used the following year (for instance, crayons, scissors, pencil sharpeners, erasers) many of these items are still in good useable condition and you don’t NEED to buy them brand new year after year. So, I go through my kids check list for school and see what we have from last year that we can use again. I end up only needing to buy about half the items from the list each year!!!! Can’t go wrong with recycling! : )

I have been saving so much money on back to school shopping this year. I have been on Deal Seeking Mom looking for the latest coupons and deals. I have had great success with the Old Navy coupons and have saved a lot of money on clothes for my 6 year old daughter starting 1st grade!!
Jamie
I save money by stockpiling cheap school supplies. When the schools put out the new supply lists, we “shop” our school supply stockpile first. Then we hit the closets and figure out what fits and what doesn’t, what we need in what colors. Once our inventory is done, we start hitting the stores as they have their sales. We don’t buy heavy on fall/winter clothes because we know the kids grow. I do a second round of shopping during the Christmas season.

I always stock up on enough school supplies to last me through the next year when they go on sale.

My biggest tip to get the essentials that you think you’re kids will need after they put everything on clearance. Then you are stocked up for the next year and can fill in with the neccessities in the fall. Remeber to also get items that don’t have trendy photos on them, just plain colors will work just fine, that way they won’t be out of style in the fall.
