Dream Giveaway: $50 Home Depot Gift Card

January 26, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

dream-gift-cardRaise your hand if you love The Home Depot!

Thought so – I mean, what’s not to love? I get inspired to do some sort of household project just walking through their doors.

Here’s another bit of inspiration on a more serious note.

Through Feb. 28, The Home Depot is offering a commemorative “Dream” gift card celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. When consumers purchase the collector’s edition “Dream” gift card, The Home Depot will donate five percent of all sales to the Center for Civil and Human Rights, up to $1 million dollars. The donation will assist in the building of a permanent exhibition home for his personal writings and papers.

The collection of original documents by Dr. King includes more than 10,000 items, among them 7,000 handwritten notes spanning from 1946 to 1968. They include drafts of his “I Have a Dream” speech, his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” other theological writings and his Nobel Peace Prize addresses. The King Papers will be part of the exhibition offering of The Center for Civil and Human Rights. The Dream cards can be purchased at any store, or online at homedepot.com/dream.

Talk about amazing and inspiring, huh?

I have one of these commemorative gift cards loaded with $50 to spend at The Home Depot to give away to one Deal Seeking Mom reader!

To enter leave a comment telling me what inspires you. It can be an event, a person, a speech – you name it.

My husband inspires me – he’s in the Air Force and is deploying for a year. My daughter has Down syndrome and she inspires me by never giving up on learning new things and trying her best even when things are more difficult for her than they would be for others her age.
    Thanks for the generous giveaway!

I’m often inspired by nature: the first flowers of spring peeking through the soil, the changing leaves, the color of a sunset.

My children inspire me. I am inspired every day to be a better mom for them. They inspire me to continue learning more frugal ways to do things in order to give them everything they need. They inspire me to find special ways to show them how much I love them.

Actually my mom inspires me the most. She has Parkinsons and a host of other medical issues, but the things she can make and do are more than the average person. It just boggles my mind sometimes…

I am inspired by my boys. I have three and they are wonderful kids. They would do anything to help anyone. I remember when my oldest was 10 and we had a local police officer killed on duty. A couple of months later our town built a playground at one of our parks in his honor called “Tommy’s Castle”. My son went there everyday until it was completed to volunteer. He was so proud and happy to be a part of that and I felt so proud to be his mom because every day he came home and just beemed at what they were doing. My middle son has done everything he can to help his grandmother you is wheel chair ridden with MS. She is a very independent woman but loves it when Matt is there and does whatever he can to help her out. He has been such a blessing to her its unbelievable and my youngest son is a US Marine and has been through so much with his career. The Marines are unbelievable guys, in the rough times you can depend on each and every one of them and the level of respect that they show towards people is very impressive. There is not a day that I don’t wake up and am proud to be their mother and feel I have definitely done something right. I am very blessed.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
