Dream Giveaway: $50 Home Depot Gift Card

January 26, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

dream-gift-cardRaise your hand if you love The Home Depot!

Thought so – I mean, what’s not to love? I get inspired to do some sort of household project just walking through their doors.

Here’s another bit of inspiration on a more serious note.

Through Feb. 28, The Home Depot is offering a commemorative “Dream” gift card celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. When consumers purchase the collector’s edition “Dream” gift card, The Home Depot will donate five percent of all sales to the Center for Civil and Human Rights, up to $1 million dollars. The donation will assist in the building of a permanent exhibition home for his personal writings and papers.

The collection of original documents by Dr. King includes more than 10,000 items, among them 7,000 handwritten notes spanning from 1946 to 1968. They include drafts of his “I Have a Dream” speech, his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” other theological writings and his Nobel Peace Prize addresses. The King Papers will be part of the exhibition offering of The Center for Civil and Human Rights. The Dream cards can be purchased at any store, or online at homedepot.com/dream.

Talk about amazing and inspiring, huh?

I have one of these commemorative gift cards loaded with $50 to spend at The Home Depot to give away to one Deal Seeking Mom reader!

To enter leave a comment telling me what inspires you. It can be an event, a person, a speech – you name it.

I am inspired by my best friend Courtney. I live vicariously through her. She’s received her master’s degree, traveled to Egypt to learn Arabic, and is currently spending time in the Peace Corps in Cameroon. Her strength and caring globally are unparalleled and I miss her.

Today my children inspired me. As they always do. I didn’t feel like going to church and they woke me up (5 and 4) and said Mommy we are supposed to go to Jesus’ house today. Do you know what day it is ? And I said no. And they go Sunday. S-U-N-D-A-Y Jesus’ day. It inspired me. Im’ like they can count the days why can’t I ?

BTW seeing a new president in office that believe that we all as well as he can make a diffrence inspires me. And I can also tell my little boys that when your Grandpa was a little boy he only dreamed of a day like this. And well it has happened…… That inspires me even more

I am inspired by small acts of kindness. Someone holding a door open, a genuine compliment, a hug. The small things mean a lot to me and remind me to smile. Thanks!

Letters from a Birmingham Jail is an amazing collection of letters. Dr. King was an amazing mind.

On a totally different track, my mom and mother in law inspire me to be a better mom, housekeeper and wife.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
