Dream Giveaway: $50 Home Depot Gift Card

Thought so – I mean, what’s not to love? I get inspired to do some sort of household project just walking through their doors.

Here’s another bit of inspiration on a more serious note.

Through Feb. 28, The Home Depot is offering a commemorative “Dream” gift card celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. When consumers purchase the collector’s edition “Dream” gift card, The Home Depot will donate five percent of all sales to the Center for Civil and Human Rights, up to $1 million dollars. The donation will assist in the building of a permanent exhibition home for his personal writings and papers.

The collection of original documents by Dr. King includes more than 10,000 items, among them 7,000 handwritten notes spanning from 1946 to 1968. They include drafts of his “I Have a Dream” speech, his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” other theological writings and his Nobel Peace Prize addresses. The King Papers will be part of the exhibition offering of The Center for Civil and Human Rights. The Dream cards can be purchased at any store, or online at homedepot.com/dream.

Talk about amazing and inspiring, huh?

    I can honestly say that what inspires me, is my husband. He is the kindest person I’ve ever met and he pushes me to be better, without me getting upset at him! He continues to amaze me, even after we became parents. He never went through any selfish desires and never was scared of having a baby. He is such a wonderful father.     My children inspire me. When I get grouchy I remind myself that they are watching me, learning from me, growing to be the person from the enviroment they come from. I want them to grow happy in a mentally healthy home. There is enough violence and craziness in the world, their home should be a safe place from all of that. Of course though they do see me unhappy at times, it is healthy to see all sides and see how I deal with that stress. I am no Martha Stewart, but I try to be a role model to be proud of.

    My husband, Chris, inspires me! He is a State Trooper and puts his life on the line everyday to protect and serve others. He always shows extra grace and mercy to those he comes in contact with and makes me proud to be his wife! In a day and age when even police can be corrupt, he puts a little faith back into the community. I know, I’m biased! haha
