Dream Giveaway: $50 Home Depot Gift Card

Thought so – I mean, what’s not to love? I get inspired to do some sort of household project just walking through their doors.

Here’s another bit of inspiration on a more serious note.

Through Feb. 28, The Home Depot is offering a commemorative “Dream” gift card celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. When consumers purchase the collector’s edition “Dream” gift card, The Home Depot will donate five percent of all sales to the Center for Civil and Human Rights, up to $1 million dollars. The donation will assist in the building of a permanent exhibition home for his personal writings and papers.

The collection of original documents by Dr. King includes more than 10,000 items, among them 7,000 handwritten notes spanning from 1946 to 1968. They include drafts of his “I Have a Dream” speech, his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” other theological writings and his Nobel Peace Prize addresses. The King Papers will be part of the exhibition offering of The Center for Civil and Human Rights. The Dream cards can be purchased at any store, or online at homedepot.com/dream.

Talk about amazing and inspiring, huh?

    My mom was incredible. She was born and grew up thru the depression, had a husband that survived WWII, and then had a daughter with Down Syndome who she raised herself instead of putting in a institution, and in addition to four more children of her own chose to be a foster mom for over 200 kids including myself, changing our lives forever. For one person to change so many is inspiring.

    I was inspired by a man at the restaurant while I was having dinner who dragged himself with a walker to the restroom and back. I hope he gets better use of his legs as time moves on. But he didn’t let this stop his life.

    I’m inspired by a couple people: My husband because no matter how hard things get, he manages to work through without giving up or even becoming discouraged. He comes from an exceptionally dysfunctional family and strives so hard to keep our family normal and together.     what inspires me the most is to see something old and imagine what I could do to incorporate it into my life. Like furniture. If it’s pretty well used, what can I do to make it fit into my home. would painting it do it? would stripping and refinishing do it? how about recovering it in a modern material? or maybe just putting a lacy crocheted cloth on it with a lamp or something and leaving it just the way it is? thank you for this chance to win
