Did you know that kids can catch six to ten colds year-round?
I’ve never kept track, but that sounds about right. I don’t think there was a single week this past winter when at least one of the kids was feeling under the weather.
Vicks would like to provide one very lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader with a little extra comfort for both mom and child. They’ve put together a “Vicks VapoRub Comfort Care” gift basket valued at $450 filled with Vicks VapoRub along with some other favorite items to make children more comfortable. The basket includes a plush Little Giraffe blanket, classic children’s books and lullaby CDs. And don’t think they forgot about Mom, especially with Mother’s Day a few days away! They’re also including a 100% cashmere wrap, some favorite soothing skincare items from L’Occitane and a manicure/pedicure kit.
For child:
- Vicks VapoRub
- Chenille Blanket
- Soothing lullaby music
- Assortment of children’s books: Corduroy, Harold and the Purple Crayon, The Giving Tree, The Little Prince
For mom:
- Nordstrom Cashmere Sweater Knit Wrap

My daughter is 3 and a half and sometimes when she gets a bad cough, I rub vicks on her feet and cover them with socks. Works pretty good. I don’t rub much on her chest, i’m afraid it will make it harder for her to breathe. ( I know worry wart) ;)
Thank you
Stephanie
My favorite comfort when I’m sick is Lipton cup of soup. My mom used to give this to me when I was little, and I still crave it when I’m feeling bad!

We use Vicks and honey and lukewarm baths…you know, all the classic remedies

All of us have our own special blanket that gives us comfort. The sick person usually ends up out on the sofa so that they can watch tv (when they are not sleeping).

It is rare for us to get sick but if it happens we drink hot tea and rub vicks under our noses.

I use medication to help bring fevers down along with a cool washcloth on my or my sons forehead. My husband also takes care of either me or my son when we’re sick. I’ll change the sheets on my sons bed when he’s sick. Nothing like fresh sheets to snuggle down in to help make you feel better!

We use alot of vicks around here. I love the product. One of the best tricks I have learned is appling it to the soles of your feet and wearing cotton socks that night, it stops coughing. Or using it as a poltice (apply salve to chest and put a warm rag on it) and let it stay. I belong to the forum just not very long. I enjoy seeing what’s there.

Maybe I’m weak, but my favorite remedy is just to kick up my feet and sleep on the couch!

My kiddos are 5 and 1, and when my 5-year-old is sick, he gets to watch tons of tv with his special blanket and read lots of books with me. For both kids, we love baths, soup, fever meds, and Vicks Vaporub. I actually just put it on my 1-year-old tonight before bed! I would love to win this!

Whenever the little ones are feeling stuffy, I take them in the bathroom, shut the door and turn on a hot shower. We sit on the floor and I read to them until they start to feel at least a little refreshed!
Marina
When my kiddo is sick I let him watch his favorite movie on the portable dvd player in his bedroom. He loves staying in his comfy bed when he’s not feeling his best.

When my kids are sick, I pull out the bed in the family room and get them all comfy. I make sure they get lots of mom attention during the day and I keep them company while they watch their favorite shows.
Michele
I always make homemade chicken soup with lots of garlic, pepper and big egg noodles. We do put vicks on their backs and chests at night so they can sleep well.

We have a little min metal teapot handed down in the family. It is great for coaxing one to drink fluids and only comes out during major illness.

We make a nest for the boys on the couch with lots of blankets and pillows. Then we snuggle up and watch cartoons, the Price is Right and doze off and on.
Kat
With my kiddos we snuggle and watch movies or read books.
