Comfort Giveaway: Vicks VapoRub Prize Package (ARV $450)

May 9, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

vaporubDid you know that kids can catch six to ten colds year-round?

I’ve never kept track, but that sounds about right. I don’t think there was a single week this past winter when at least one of the kids was feeling under the weather.

Vicks would like to provide one very lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader with a little extra comfort for both mom and child. They’ve put together a “Vicks VapoRub Comfort Care” gift basket valued at $450 filled with Vicks VapoRub along with some other favorite items to make children more comfortable. The basket includes a plush Little Giraffe blanket, classic children’s books and lullaby CDs. And don’t think they forgot about Mom, especially with Mother’s Day a few days away! They’re also including a 100% cashmere wrap, some favorite soothing skincare items from L’Occitane and a manicure/pedicure kit.

For child:

  • Vicks VapoRub
  • Chenille Blanket
  • Soothing lullaby music
  • Assortment of children’s books: Corduroy, Harold and the Purple Crayon, The Giving Tree, The Little Prince

For mom:

  • Nordstrom Cashmere Sweater Knit Wrap
  • L’Occitane Shea La Vie Gift Set and Hand Cream
  • Sephora Professional Manicure/Pedicure Nail Kit
  • Essie Spa Pedicure Mini Kit

When my little ones get sick there is a lot of snuggling under blankets, staying in pj’s, watching tv, drinking lots of fluids and getting lots of rest. Thanks for the giveaway!

Whenever someone in our house gets a cold I like to prescribe plenty of bed rest and relaxation, Vicks Vapor Rub on the chest and soups and juice.

I give my daughter 7-up and we watch a few movies together while she is huddled under a blanket. This always cheers her up and seems to help her get better!

Bromalien (Pineapple enzyme) helps to break up the congestion.
Lots of water to drink. Hot tea with lemon. Fuzzy slippers or slippers to keep feet warm. Turtle necks to keep the throat warm.

When my son is sick we use Vicks in the bath tub. That really helps clear him up and fast. Then we put the Vicks on his chest while he sleeps.

When the kids get colds we put Vicks on the soles of their feet. It is supposed to help with the cough. Then we put a warm compress on their chest to open the pores then apply Vicks. Last we kick Daddy out of bed for the night and they get to sleep with mom!

I usually give warm baths when we get the cold and then bundle up and cuddle under a soft blanket. We usually get a little more attention when we’re sick and get to pick some special movie .

I would love this gift set…We ALWAYS include VICKS in our feel better regiment. We warm it in the sink with hot water, then apply it on our sore throats and chests and wrap a towel around our necks. Then snuggle up and sleep!

Well when my lil one get’s sick she has a horrible attitude (she’s 7!!!) So to make her feel better, give her a warm lavander bubble bath, then I rub her back and chest down with vicks. After that we both cuddle up on the couch and watch Disney movies all day long, one after the other. She usually askes for hot tea, to which I add honey, then for lunch we have chicken noodle soup with crackers.
By the days end we both feel all warm and fuzzy in our robs and slippers. Mom my used to do all of this with me when I was her age and it always made me feel better, so I do the exact same thing with my daughter! It’s a sicky tradition that I hope she will pass on to her children!

We let our kids sleep with us and that always seems to make them feel better! Along with the usual chix soup, vapor rub and snuggles!

Well my kids are 4 & 2 and this past winter we have probably met the quota for the colds. What we like to do is my oldest son loves when we are sick we like to have a fire going and sit around it with hot chocolate or tea then we move to the couch after warming up and usually have poppies. And if we still aren’t feeling good we usually take baths. My husband is a great cook and either makes home made chicken soup or Motza ball soup.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
