Did you know that kids can catch six to ten colds year-round?
I’ve never kept track, but that sounds about right. I don’t think there was a single week this past winter when at least one of the kids was feeling under the weather.
Vicks would like to provide one very lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader with a little extra comfort for both mom and child. They’ve put together a “Vicks VapoRub Comfort Care” gift basket valued at $450 filled with Vicks VapoRub along with some other favorite items to make children more comfortable. The basket includes a plush Little Giraffe blanket, classic children’s books and lullaby CDs. And don’t think they forgot about Mom, especially with Mother’s Day a few days away! They’re also including a 100% cashmere wrap, some favorite soothing skincare items from L’Occitane and a manicure/pedicure kit.
For child:
- Vicks VapoRub
- Chenille Blanket
- Soothing lullaby music
- Assortment of children’s books: Corduroy, Harold and the Purple Crayon, The Giving Tree, The Little Prince
For mom:
- Nordstrom Cashmere Sweater Knit Wrap

I make homemade soup and make lots of juice. I also snuggle with my son and read to him when he is sick. I do that when he’s well also but he is very clingy when he is sick.

I make them as comfortable as possible. I let them watch their cartoons while they lay in their bed. They can pretty much have whatever they want to eat and drink. I pretty much just baby them. lol thank you!

I need a new blanket for sure.

I try to get as much rest as possible. I drink juice and water, eat soup and crackers. When I’m not feeling well I usually spend time just lying on the couch covered up in a blanket watching TV.

The very first time, I had to laugh — my husband’s father’s sovereign remedy for colds and flu was a hot toddy! It involved several tablespoons of honey, about twice that much lemon juice, and an ounce of hard liquor, all at a temperature about like hot coffee — and surprisingly, it worked fairly well for both sore throats and achy muscles, and definitely helped the young ones get to sleep!!

For me it is Chicken broth, a warm cuddly blanket and solitude.
