Comfort Giveaway: Vicks VapoRub Prize Package (ARV $450)

May 9, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

vaporubDid you know that kids can catch six to ten colds year-round?

I’ve never kept track, but that sounds about right. I don’t think there was a single week this past winter when at least one of the kids was feeling under the weather.

Vicks would like to provide one very lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader with a little extra comfort for both mom and child. They’ve put together a “Vicks VapoRub Comfort Care” gift basket valued at $450 filled with Vicks VapoRub along with some other favorite items to make children more comfortable. The basket includes a plush Little Giraffe blanket, classic children’s books and lullaby CDs. And don’t think they forgot about Mom, especially with Mother’s Day a few days away! They’re also including a 100% cashmere wrap, some favorite soothing skincare items from L’Occitane and a manicure/pedicure kit.

For child:

  • Vicks VapoRub
  • Chenille Blanket
  • Soothing lullaby music
  • Assortment of children’s books: Corduroy, Harold and the Purple Crayon, The Giving Tree, The Little Prince

For mom:

  • Nordstrom Cashmere Sweater Knit Wrap
  • L’Occitane Shea La Vie Gift Set and Hand Cream
  • Sephora Professional Manicure/Pedicure Nail Kit
  • Essie Spa Pedicure Mini Kit

Of course you do – I wish I could win myself! Just tell me about your favorite way to comfort yourself or your child when a nasty cold infiltrates your family. Do you have a special remedy that’s been passed from generation to generation? Maybe you make a big batch of chicken noodle soup like me.

When the kids are feeling under the weather, I like to bundle them up in my bed. I fix some of their favorite comfort foods and we watch movies, nap, and read books together. Sometimes, just a little TLC is the best medicine.

I always give them lots of love and some vicks cold medicine. I apply vicks vapor rub (on their necks and chest). Always bundle them up so it works better , and if they are real bad I have them wear a turtle neck my grandma used to tie a kitchen towel around our necks lol.

I stop what I am doing as a busy mom and just sit with them. Sometimes it’s to just hold them or rub their hair, somtimes to watch a show with them or just to read them a book. What a great gift pack thanks!

When me or my little ones are sick the rule in our house you can eat whatever sounds good. So if its ice cream for dinner you bet : ) I also let my little ones make bed right next to mine so they can sleep close.

When my 15 month old gets a cold I put vicks vapor rub on MY chest, neck, etc. Then we both get into the shower and let the aroma/steam/heat soothe. Usually he falls asleep on my chest. We get out and wrap up in a soft bath robe.

There is something about staying in bed that makes you feel truly rested. I snuggle up in bed with my favorite blanket and book and hideaway until I feel better. Thanks for the chance!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...
