Consumer Recalls: Baby Rattles + More

There have been several consumer recalls over the past couple of days that may affect Deal Seeking Mom readers. Please refer to the links included in each section for more details about the specific recalls:

Kid O Products Baby Rattles

Kid O Products has announced a voluntary recall of some baby rattles because the rattle beads can come off when the rattle is twisted or pulled forcefully, posing a choking hazard to young children.  The recall involves the Prisma and Duo style wooden baby rattles with multi-colored beads.  For a complete description and picture of the recalled rattles, go here.  The affected rattles were sold in specialty children’s stores nationwide from November 2010 through December 2010 for about $12.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled rattles away from children and return them to the retail store where they were purcahsed for a full refund.  Consumers can also contact Kid O Products for instructions on how to mail the product to receive a full refund.  For additional information, contact Kid O Products collect at 212-366-5858 between 9 a.m. and d5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s website.

Consumer Recalls: Avalung Backpacks, Sump Pumps + More

There have been several consumer recalls over the past couple of days that may affect Deal Seeking Mom readers. Please refer to the links included in each section for more details about the specific recalls:

Avalung Backpacks

Black Diamond Equipment, Ltd. of Salt Lake City, Utah has recalled several models of their Avalung backpacks because the air intake tubing can crack under cold temperatures, causing the unit not to function as intended, posing a suffocation hazard.  For a complete list of model numbers, colors, sizes and PO numbers, go here.  The model name and color are printed on the side of the packpack and the PO number is printed on a white label inside the backpack.  The affected backpacks were sold at speciality outdoor and ski shops nationwide from January 2010 through December 2010 for between $180 and $280.

Consumers should immediately stop using these recalled backpacks and contact Black Diamond Equipment to receive a free replacement product or a full refund.  For additional information, contact Black Diamond collect at 801-278-5533 anytime or visit their website.

Sump Pumps and Effluent Pumps

ITT Water Technology, Inc., of Seneca Falls, N.Y. is recalling several models of sump and effluent pumps because pumps installed without a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFC) protection can pose an electric shock or electrocution hazard if touched by the consumer.  If you suspect that you have one of the recalled pumps and it is plugged in, do not touch it, the water around it or the surrounding floor area.  For a list of models number affected, go here.  The recalled pumps were sold through Goulds, Red Jacket and Bell& Gossett distributors nationwide from December 2009 to July 2010 for between $280 and $700.  These pumps were installed in new construction or as replacement pumps.

If you have purchased a sump pump between December 2009 and July 2010 and it is sky blue or red, you may have a recalled pump.  Do not touch the pump, the water around the pump or the floor surrounding the pump.  To verify if your pump is one affected by this recall, immediately contact ITT Water Technology toll-free at 866-325-4204 or visit one of the firm’s websites here, here or here.  If your pump is affected a technician will be sent to your home to replace or repair the pump.

Consumer Recalls: Salsa Handlebar Stems

Salsa Cycles has announced a voluntary recall of Salsa Handlebar Stems because the stems can crack or break, posing a fall hazard to the rider.  For details and models numbers go here.  The recalled handlebar stems were sold at bicycle retailers and websites from April 2010 through October 2010 for about $65.

Consumers should stop riding bicycles containing these handlebar stems immediately and contact an authorized Salsa Bicycles dealer for a free inspection and a handlebar stem replacement or a full refund.  For additional information, contact Quality Bicycle Products toll-free at 877-774-6208 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday or visit the firm’s website.

Consumer Recalls: Fruta Planta Weight Loss Products + More

There have been several consumer recalls over the past couple of days that may affect Deal Seeking Mom readers. Please refer to the links included in each section for more details about the specific recalls:

Fruta Planta Weight Loss Formulas and Supplements

All lots of the Fruta Planta and Reduced Weight Fruta Planta dietary supplement products are being recalled because the products contain 15.4 mg of Sibutramine, a controlled substance that was withdrawn from the market in October 2010 for safety reasons.  For a complete list of descriptions go here.  The recalled products were sold and distributed nationwide via the internet by several different websites and can also be found in some retail locations.

Consumers should destroy the above products or return them to the company’s address in Central Florida.  Consumers with questions should contact Fruta Planta at 877-225-1009 Monday through Friday 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. EST or visit the firm’s website.

Consumer Recalls: American Honda Snowblowers + More

Honda Snowblowers

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. has recalled several models of snowblowers because the fuel tank joint and o-ring located on the underside of the fuel tank can seep or drip fuel over time, posing a fire hazard.  For a complete list of Model and Frame Serial Numbers, go here.  The recalled snowblowers were sold at Honda Power Equipment dealers nationwide from April 2005 through November 2010 for between $2,000 and $3,400.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled snowblowers and contact any Honda Power Equipment dealer to arrange for a free fuel tank joint and o-ring replacement.  For additional information, contact Honda at 888-888-3139 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s website.
