Beyond Earth Month Giveaway: Products to Help You Go Green Year Round

April 27, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

earthmonth-giveawayEarth month is winding down now, but I’ve got a huge giveaway that will help you maintain your green efforts long beyond just this month. Included in this giveaway are the following items:

  • Bissell Little Green Machine
  • Clorox Greenworks Cleaners
  • White Cloud Recycled Paper Towels and Toilet Paper
  • Brita Water Filter Pitcher
  • Tide Cold Water Detergent – not pictured

I had the opportunity to try these products out myself, and I’ve been very pleased with all of them. I think of all of them, the Bissell Little Green Machine is my favorite because it makes cleaning up all of those little kid and pet messes so easy and convenient. The most surprising would be the White Cloud recycled paper towels and toilet paper. I was suprised by how soft they were!

How can you win?

    Green tip that really works:

In cold weather, we tape bubble wrap to the inside of our windows. It adds an extra layer of insulation and it really does keep our house warmer, while reducing our heating costs.

    Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

I’ve started using home-made green products to clean around the house – including baking soda and vinegar to clean the toilet bowls. I feel SO good anytime I get rid of the traditional chemical cleaning stuff!

We reuse as many containers that our food comes in as possible. We use very few paper towels, we use regular towels instead.

Reusable shopping bags! I use them at the grocery store, the drug store, and even on the airplane to hold my baby’s toys and snacks.

We take our cloth bags with us everywhere we go so that we don’t have to use any kind of plastic bag. We also stopped buying bottled water and bring a container of water with us.

Green tip: When I was in grade school, I remember signs by light switches that said, “When not in use, snap off the juice.” I work with my kids (& husband!!) to turn off the lights when they leave a room. We also try to remember not to turn on the lights if we don’t need them (let the sunshine in!!).

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
