Earth month is winding down now, but I’ve got a huge giveaway that will help you maintain your green efforts long beyond just this month. Included in this giveaway are the following items:
- Bissell Little Green Machine
- Clorox Greenworks Cleaners
- White Cloud Recycled Paper Towels and Toilet Paper
- Brita Water Filter Pitcher
- Tide Cold Water Detergent – not pictured
I had the opportunity to try these products out myself, and I’ve been very pleased with all of them. I think of all of them, the Bissell Little Green Machine is my favorite because it makes cleaning up all of those little kid and pet messes so easy and convenient. The most surprising would be the White Cloud recycled paper towels and toilet paper. I was suprised by how soft they were!

We try to buy grocery items that have limited packaging. We recycle any packaging or try to reuse it in some way. The more uses we can get out of something, the better!!!

We like to walk (as opposed to driving) as much as possible. I think it’s great for the kids to be out in the fresh air and it helps me at least get a little bit of exercise.

My living green tip is to recycle. It doesn’t cost you a dime So it’s something everyone can do on any budget.

We don’t use paper plates so we can save or trees. We also recycle.

I’ve been using PUL (polyurethane laminated fabric) and a strip of velcro to make machine-washable/reuseable sandwich baggies. I also knit my own washable swiffer covers and use a vinegar/water mixture to clean with.
Stephanie
I always use half the recommended amount of detergent and soaps. We also cloth diaper and dry on the line! You won’t find any paper towels in our home either : )

Teaching our children to be consious of our environment is the next big step we can all take. After all, they will be taking care of our earth long after us. Even small changes in lifestyle can make a big difference. Turn off lights, recycle, and re-use. We use dish rags instead of paper towels, real plates instead of paper, and we have our own re-usable grocery bags.
Melanie
Take along a grocery bag when you go on walks w/ your kids and pick up any trash you come across along the way. Then put the recyclables in the bin when you return and the rest in the garbage. My 5-yr-old is very earth conscious right now and loves doing this!

We recycle our alumnium cans by donating them to a local animal shelter who asks for donations. It’s like a double good deed.
My husband and I don’t drink a lot of pop, so he set up a can at his work since they didn’t offer any type of recycling program.

My best green tip is to dry your clothes on a clothesline outside. Saves electricity and wear and tear on the clothes.

I recycle all my newspaper, mail, plastic, and alumnium cans. Instead of throwing away my egg cartons, I give them to a lady at work who uses them to sell her chickens eggs.
I never buy plastic trash bags, I just use plastic bags that I have at home.
Carrie
we don’t waste anything. we have a family of four and a dog and only throw out 1 maybe 2 bags of trash a week. everything else is recycled or used to the max! I think waste may be the biggest problem most americans have!
Amy Harwood
I always, always, always use my own bags at the grocery store, and the pet store, and CVS and target. You get the idea!
Windymoya
I reuse everything possible! Toilet paper rolls, plastic bags, egg cartons, gift bags, shredded paper. Some things make great packing, some are fun for crafts. It is fun to get creative.
I also like to buy used when possible. I love to get great deals on kids clothes, shoes, and toys and it is great to know I am helping the environment as well!
