Beyond Earth Month Giveaway: Products to Help You Go Green Year Round

April 27, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

earthmonth-giveawayEarth month is winding down now, but I’ve got a huge giveaway that will help you maintain your green efforts long beyond just this month. Included in this giveaway are the following items:

  • Bissell Little Green Machine
  • Clorox Greenworks Cleaners
  • White Cloud Recycled Paper Towels and Toilet Paper
  • Brita Water Filter Pitcher
  • Tide Cold Water Detergent – not pictured

I had the opportunity to try these products out myself, and I’ve been very pleased with all of them. I think of all of them, the Bissell Little Green Machine is my favorite because it makes cleaning up all of those little kid and pet messes so easy and convenient. The most surprising would be the White Cloud recycled paper towels and toilet paper. I was suprised by how soft they were!

How can you win?

Leave a comment with your favorite simple tip for living a greener life. Going green doesn’t have to be hard, so let’s help each other out by sharing the little changes we can make that can add up to a larger impact over time.

I use reusable bags when I shop – I always keep them in my trunk so I don’t forget them. I also recyle all the newspapers and magazines that I buy to clip coupons from.

I sold my car and bought a bike. I bought three huge baskets and I ride it everywhere. It’s so satisfying to come home from the grocery with my re-usable bags full of food knowing that it didn’t cost a penny for me to get there. Hooray for pedal power!

Recycle everything you can…I even clean out peanut butter jars to use at different Holiday times to fill with candy or whatever. We also clean out jars and re-use them to do our pickling, rather than going out and buying new jars.

I have been hanging all my laundry out on the clothesline during the spring and summer months and my husband put a retractable clothesline in our basement and I hang all our clothes down there over the winter and fall months and let our new wood pellet stove that heats our house dry our clothes. I hardly ever use my clothes dryer anymore saving us a lot of money in energy costs!

I use the back of one-side printed paper at work for scratch paper and recycle paper that can’t be re-used. Paper literally gets thrown away if I don’t ‘save’ it out of the trash.

We collect our rain water to water the plants and garden in the Hot TX heat; that is of course if it’s been raining. I love the cloth bag for the grocery…..you can get so much more in them. I’m slowing going thru my cleaning supply stash and will start using baking soda and vinegar etc……

My dryer broke so instead of buying a new one, I got 3 drying racks at thrift stores.

Therefore I do not use any electricity and gas. And I brought resale, so less products have to be made new.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
