Beyond Earth Month Giveaway: Products to Help You Go Green Year Round

April 27, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

earthmonth-giveawayEarth month is winding down now, but I’ve got a huge giveaway that will help you maintain your green efforts long beyond just this month. Included in this giveaway are the following items:

  • Bissell Little Green Machine
  • Clorox Greenworks Cleaners
  • White Cloud Recycled Paper Towels and Toilet Paper
  • Brita Water Filter Pitcher
  • Tide Cold Water Detergent – not pictured

I had the opportunity to try these products out myself, and I’ve been very pleased with all of them. I think of all of them, the Bissell Little Green Machine is my favorite because it makes cleaning up all of those little kid and pet messes so easy and convenient. The most surprising would be the White Cloud recycled paper towels and toilet paper. I was suprised by how soft they were!

How can you win?

I try to use recycle bags every time I go to the grocery store. I also save plastic containers from food I buy and reuse them to take food in my lunch.

I started composting this year for my garden..how easy!! I use my tote bags for shopping and if I end up with plastic bags, they go to good use in the house. I reuse all my shipping boxes and jars. Just to name a few things we do to help our environment. Thanks for a great giveaway!!

I use canvas shopping bags. Not only are they green, but they are much easier to carry than the plastic ones.

I use cloth grocery bags now, with the occaisional plastic ones that are brought in by the family I line our bathroom trash can with those, keeping in mind to reuse, and reduse.

cloth grocery bags are genius – less plastic bags means less trash in your home and in the landfills. when I do have plastic bags they are used for kitty litter disposal. Whenever possible I don’t get a bag from a retail store- who needs a big bag for your new lipstick that is packaged in a box – throw it and your receipt in your big purse or make a point to carry a big bag when shopping for that option.

My family and I are working hard at the recycling. We have recycle bins and are doing our best to make sure everything that can is put in them.

green tip: Recycle! One thing we like to do in our home with plastic grocery bag is to use them as trash bags. Containers are also fun for baby to play with.

Don’t eat meat every day, if at all, as that’s really the best thing we can do for ourselves, the animals, and our planet.

I use plastic bags for trash baskets, garage sales, customers like that. The best is to wrap a paint roller in one tight. It is ready for when there are interruptions, or just didn’t the job done.

I don’t know how much the White Cloud people would like this, but to cut down on waste and expense, we use cloth napkins and towels most of the time now – and we hardly ever have to buy paper napkins – good for the environment and the pocketbook :)

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
