Beyond Earth Month Giveaway: Products to Help You Go Green Year Round

April 27, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

earthmonth-giveawayEarth month is winding down now, but I’ve got a huge giveaway that will help you maintain your green efforts long beyond just this month. Included in this giveaway are the following items:

  • Bissell Little Green Machine
  • Clorox Greenworks Cleaners
  • White Cloud Recycled Paper Towels and Toilet Paper
  • Brita Water Filter Pitcher
  • Tide Cold Water Detergent – not pictured

I had the opportunity to try these products out myself, and I’ve been very pleased with all of them. I think of all of them, the Bissell Little Green Machine is my favorite because it makes cleaning up all of those little kid and pet messes so easy and convenient. The most surprising would be the White Cloud recycled paper towels and toilet paper. I was suprised by how soft they were!

How can you win?

Leave a comment with your favorite simple tip for living a greener life. Going green doesn’t have to be hard, so let’s help each other out by sharing the little changes we can make that can add up to a larger impact over time.

Green Tip—forget paper napkins & paper towels we kitchen towels as personal napkins all the time. And for spills and other messes we use rags.

Whenever I buy one or two items, I tell the cashier don’t put it in a bag unless it’s something hard to carry by hand like meat. How many millions of bags would be saved each year if everyone did this!

My favorite green tip is using cloth napkins. We made the switch a few months ago and I love them.

I have been trying to use reusable shopping bags more. It’s hard when you have a lot of purchases, but I think this will be a big help. I have also been trying to recycle more and teach my children to recycle as well.

Use old panty hose to hang onions, pototoes, garlic. Slide 1 vegetable in, tie a knot, slide another in, tie a knot. Keeps things fresh longer so no wasted food , no throwing food out because it’s gone bad. And you’ve saved a pair of pantyhose from a trip to the landfill.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
