Beyond Earth Month Giveaway: Products to Help You Go Green Year Round

April 27, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

earthmonth-giveawayEarth month is winding down now, but I’ve got a huge giveaway that will help you maintain your green efforts long beyond just this month. Included in this giveaway are the following items:

  • Bissell Little Green Machine
  • Clorox Greenworks Cleaners
  • White Cloud Recycled Paper Towels and Toilet Paper
  • Brita Water Filter Pitcher
  • Tide Cold Water Detergent – not pictured

I had the opportunity to try these products out myself, and I’ve been very pleased with all of them. I think of all of them, the Bissell Little Green Machine is my favorite because it makes cleaning up all of those little kid and pet messes so easy and convenient. The most surprising would be the White Cloud recycled paper towels and toilet paper. I was suprised by how soft they were!

How can you win?

Leave a comment with your favorite simple tip for living a greener life. Going green doesn’t have to be hard, so let’s help each other out by sharing the little changes we can make that can add up to a larger impact over time.

Going green and recycling, it’s amazing how little trash we throw out now. Most goes in the recycling container. Now I’m always looking when I’m out or at other people’s homes on recycling. Otherwise, I love my water pitcher.

Another thing I do is pack my kids’ sandwiches for lunch in the bag that that the bread came in when I’m down to the last slices, and the bag that lines the cereal boxes when we finish a box. I print on both sides of paper when I must print things and I print on the back of any paper I can find.

Instead of bottled water, we use a Pur water Pitcher. Our next goal is to replace paper towels with Sham wow!

We are using re-usable bags when we shop and tap water instead of bottled water. Little changes, big differences!

I unplug my appliances (with easy access) and tv (including the dvd player and ps2) when they aren’t in once. To find the right all-looking-the-same black plug, I labeled each one. Fast and easy! =) Saves you money and the environment.

I love using reusable grocery bags. Recently we planted seeds and started them in egg cartons.

I’ve replaced a lot of my cleaners with baking soda, borax and vinegar. More effective than what I was using before and I feel better using them around my pets (and kids).

I used cloth diapers when my son was little. It saved the environment & a ton of money!

I am getting a good collection of reusable totes to use at the grocery store. Saturday, Wegmans gave away a cool tote if you brought in a plastic bag full of bags….got one. Also, when I boil something like potatoes to make potato salad, I don’t dump the water down the drain….when it cools, I water my tree outside…has nutrients in the water. Thanks, Tara and have fun while you are away.

I like to recycle the plastic bags we end up with when we don’t have enough reusable bags with us into “plarn” (plastic yarn). Plarn can be used to crochet even more reusable shopping bags :) *Thanks* for the giveaway!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
