Beyond Earth Month Giveaway: Products to Help You Go Green Year Round

April 27, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

earthmonth-giveawayEarth month is winding down now, but I’ve got a huge giveaway that will help you maintain your green efforts long beyond just this month. Included in this giveaway are the following items:

  • Bissell Little Green Machine
  • Clorox Greenworks Cleaners
  • White Cloud Recycled Paper Towels and Toilet Paper
  • Brita Water Filter Pitcher
  • Tide Cold Water Detergent – not pictured

I had the opportunity to try these products out myself, and I’ve been very pleased with all of them. I think of all of them, the Bissell Little Green Machine is my favorite because it makes cleaning up all of those little kid and pet messes so easy and convenient. The most surprising would be the White Cloud recycled paper towels and toilet paper. I was suprised by how soft they were!

How can you win?

Love your blog! We reduce-reuse-recycle and creatively repurpose! We have chickens who eat any of our veggie scraps, we compost the rest and we have a beautiful garden. My favorite repurpose item is the plain old-fashioned mason jar! We use them to can with in the fall, but all winter they store everything from craft supplies to leftovers. We even store “giggles” in one – You just never know when you might need that! Thanks for all the money-saving tips!

I use cloth wipes for my little boys’ hands and face when he is dirty. They also work great when has a runny nose because they are soft and then we aren’t throwing away a tissue every two minutes!

In order to remember the reusable shopping bags when I go shopping I do two chores in one. I have the bags placed on the refrigerator to hold the recyclables throughout the week. Then when it is time to go shopping I make a stop at the recycling center first and then I have the bags ready to go shopping.

I use the plastic grocery bags I do have as trashbag liners for bathroom cans in the house..and I recycle ones I have in excess. I wash out my baby food jars and donate them to a school art class and they use them for projects. I only run the dishwasher when it is completely full and I do not leave water running for long periods of time-(i.e, the whole time while brushing teeth, etc.) I print on both sides of paper if I can and cut up excess paper that isn’t printed on into squares to use for notes and lists. We will wash and refill water bottles many times before discarding and we also use old worn shirts and socks as rags for cleaning projects in the house instead of throwing them away first.

We could really use the Bissel Green Machine and the Brita Pitcher!! I have a cat and a 1 year old…I don’t know which one makes a bigger mess!

save yogurt and cardboard egg cartons to use when growing plants from seeds in the spring, Growing plants from seeds saves money and is better for the environtment since seeds are lighter to transport than plants

I have furnished our house with hand-me-downs, yard sale finds and freecycle scores. By not buying new furniture we’ve saved money, been a bit greener and our home is unique.

I’m also saving up worn out clothing and bed sheets to stuff dog beds for our 2 mad hounds. It’s taking a while, but I think they’ll like it.

WE have started using re-useable shopping bags and green cleaning solutions. I am educating my 4 year old on the importance of recycling which is the most important thing that I am doing in my home to “Go Green”.

I’ve started “going green” by taking my re-usable shopping bags everywhere. I take them to the grocery stores, the mall, and I even use one for my coupon binder and a small one for my wallet and keys. It beats going out and spending lots of money on a new tote and it’s better for the environment.
