I use sorters to pre-sort the loads I wash each week, and do laundry on the weekends. My dryer is great too, because it has a wrinkle-free tumble feature, so even if I’m late getting them out, they’re not all wrinkled!

We save money buy bringing our laundry to the in-laws :-) It works well and I usually end up having a helper (my mother-in-law) fold our laundry.

I attempted to save time doing laundry for my 4 kids, my 20 year old brother (god does his stuff stink if I dont do it) and my husband by having my teenager do it. That did not turn out so well… now though Ive convinced hubby to call around and convert the mud room into a upstairs laundry since my brother lives in the basement (why a 20 year old needs 1200 square feet god only knows…not like he cooks his own food). I generally do a load in the morning and one in the afternoon, then one in the evening…. I require everybody to use towels 3 times unless for a good reason.

My tip is to wash daily… at out house laundry is a constant but I have found that as soon as I have enough for a load I wash, dry, fold, & put it away. Since it is a small amount my husband is more likly to help me with one or more of the steps! :)

I can usually cut time out of my laundry schedule if I don’t iron shirts. Instead of ironing, as soon as the dryer stops, I quickly hang up clothing that gets easily wrinkled. All the warm clothing together seems to remove all the wrinkles! (Granted it’s usually hard to find a time when I can start the dryer and remeber when it’s ending to get to the clothes!)

To get ink pen marks off of clothes I spray the area with hairspray till it is soaked.

I make laundry less of a burden by doing it a couple of times a week instead of all at once. I also try to make it a game with my 11 month old son and it makes it go much faster.

I hate laundry but a shirt folder might help.
Jessi
I save money and energy by hanging the laundry outside every sunny chance I get! My son loves to play outside while I do that and I enjoy the sunshine.

I like to fold clothes in my TV/family room while watching my fav shows. This way it goes by faster.

We keep a laundry basket just inside the basement door at the top of the stairs. All our downstairs laundry — kitchen towels/rags, baby clothes that need to be changed, etc — goes right in for
easy transport to the washer.

I put fold the laundry when my kids are sleeping. I watch tv or a movie to help the time go by.

My best time saving tip? I make my hubby fold it and put it away – HA!
Donna Krum
I only do one load of laundry a day. Usually it’s when the kids are sleeping. To keep our jeans from getting wrinkels, I pull them when they are still damp and hang them til they are dry.
Pamela
I like to spread my laundry throughout the week rather than do it all at once.
Melissa
I throw 2 clean tennis balls in the dryer with the clothes instead of a dryer sheet and I never have static!
Misti
I cut my dryer sheets in half and they work perfectly!
Emily
I like to fold clothes while watching tv to do two things at once. Also, my grandmom-in-law uses an old bath “pouf” in the dryer to pick up lint and fuzzies. When it gets dirty, just wash it.

We save time on laundry by already having everything sorted by having a laundry sorter with 3 compartments. We save money by trying to dry loads back to back that way the dryer is already warm from the previous load and doesn’t have to use as much energy to heat up. This also helps the environment!

Sometimes if the budget is tight, I make my own laundry soap. It works great and is a fraction of the cost.

I live in an apartment, so I share the laundry facilities. I don’t use fabric softener, so I make my own dryer “sheets” with sponges. I get free or cheap softener with coupons, then mix 1 part of it with 2 parts water in Tupperware, cut my sponges in 3 sections, and soak them overnight. Then, I take one out, wring it out, and throw it in the dryer with my clothes. I reuse each about 4 to 5 times. Easy!

I have 5 little boys, so keeping up with the laundry can be a challenge. I have a large shelving unit with baskets in the laundry room. Each shelf is designated to one child and each shelf has 3 baskets. One basket for socks/underwear, one for pants, and one for shirts. I fold up the clothes right when they come out of the dryer and put them in the baskets. They always know where to find their clothes and I am not hauling laundry up and down the stairs. I also have a hanging rack to hang clothes up on. Each child has a different color hanger.
